The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Fire Weather
Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
Friday afternoon.

* AFFECTED AREA...Knox, Stark, Peoria, Marshall, Woodford,
Fulton, Tazewell, Schuyler, Mason, Cass, Menard, Scott and
Morgan.

* TIMING...Friday afternoon.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.

* 10 HOUR FUELS...Less than 9 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for portions of north-central and west-central IL today, as west-southwest winds gust up to 35 mph with relative humidity dropping to 15 to 20 percent in warm conditions. Please refrain from any burning during times of high winds. Even the smallest fire can get out of hand quickly, especially when atmospheric humidity conditions are extremely low.

South winds will increase late today in central IL, peaking overnight. Peak wind gusts will approach 45 mph, especially north of I-70. Some of the strongest wind gusts will likely be associated with rain showers. Use caution while driving, especially in high profile vehicles. Secure loose lightweight objects.
