Washington Crossing Historic Park Live

Washington Crossing Historic Park Live The Visitor Center is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guided tours of the Historic Village are 10 AM - 4 PM.

With over 500 acres of history, natural beauty and family fun, Washington Crossing Historic Park preserves the site where General George Washington crossed the Delaware River on December 25, 1776. The 500-acre Washington Crossing Historic Park hosts thousands of visitors every year who come to see the point from which a battered and dispirited American army launched a counterattack that reversed i

ts long losing streak, preserving its will to fight. The park also contains restored colonial buildings, Bowman’s Hill Tower, Revolutionary War soldiers’ graves, stone memorials, picnic pavilions and historic collections. The recreational areas of the park are open for use from dawn to dusk all year, weather permitting. Tours and programs are offered by the non-profit Friends of Washington Crossing Park. Did you know? The first McConkey's Ferry Inn was built in 1752. Today, only the basement kitchen remains. The current inn was built in several stages. The side farthest from the river was built around 1790 and includes the original basement.

Out of concern for public safety and due to Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ crowd-size restrictions related to COVID-19, the two public Delaware River crossing reenactments will not be held in December at Washington Crossing Historic Park.
We are as disappointed as you are that this much-loved annual event cannot be held in the traditional manner this year.
To keep the tradition alive, we will debut a special pre-recorded crossing video on Christmas Day. You can watch this video here on the park’s page and on our YouTube channel. Please stay tuned for more details.
Thank you for continuing to support the staff, volunteers, and reenactors at Washington Crossing Historic Park.

On this day in 1780, British Major John Andre is hanged as a spy by order of General Washington. Andre was captured on September 23 upon the discovery of papers that revealed he was returning from a secret meeting with General Benedict Arnold, who had offered to surrender West Point to the British for a bribe of £20,000.
Believing Arnold committed the greater crime, Washington wrote a letter to Andre’s commander stating he would exchange Andre for Arnold. But he received no reply.
