Americans United for Life Names Arkansas 'Most Pro-Life State' in the Country

"Pro-life advocates in Arkansas are celebrating after the state ranked number one on the Americans United for Life (AUL) list for 2021.

AUL's Life List, which is determined annually, ranks each state on where it stands with laws and policies that protect human life from conception to natural death.

Arkansas rose to the top as more pro-life laws protecting the unborn were passed. Since 2019, the state enacted 10 pro-life laws that the US Supreme Court's ruled on and signed into law."

Arkansas pro-life laws to go into effect after court ruling; AUL ranks state as 'most pro-life'

"The Eighth Circuit’s ruling comes as Americans United for Life has recognized Arkansas as the most pro-life state in the Union. On Wednesday, the pro-life group released its “Life List 2021,” an “annual state ranking based on our comprehensive analysis of each state’s law and policy protections for human life from natural conception until natural death.”

“It is an incredible day in the state of Arkansas to be named the most pro-life state in America by Americans United for Life,” Rutledge said in response to the news.

“This has not been an easy road, but it is the most important fight we could take on and win. My office has successfully defended and won a number of pro-life cases, and as long as I am attorney general, I will ensure we continue to fight for the lives and the rights of the unborn. Even with this remarkable announcement, our work continues and I promise I will keep fighting wholeheartedly to defend our pro-life laws.”

The Americans United for Life cited a “whopping 10 pro-life laws” passed by Arkansas lawmakers in 2019 as part of the reason for its decision to label Arkansas as the most-pro-life state.

Pro-life measures passed in Arkansas include a ban on abortions after 18 weeks of pregnancy, the prohibition of abortions based on an unborn baby’s diagnosis with Down syndrome, and a requirement that doctors performing abortions obtain board certification. Those laws were struck down at the district court level before they were slated to take effect in August 2019."

In a victory for the pro-life movement, a federal court has allowed abortion restrictions in Arkansas to take effect, denying the request of pro-abortion groups seeking to invalidate the laws.

Americans United for Life Ranks Arkansas ‘Most Pro-Life State’ and Releases Life List 2021

Catherine Glenn Foster, President & CEO of Americans United for Life, released the following statement:

"Every year the team at Americans United for Life ranks all 50 states on how welcoming and protective they are to all human life. For 2021, I couldn’t be more proud to announce that Americans United for Life has ranked the great state of Arkansas as the most pro-life state in our union!

"2020 saw a real race to the top as communities across the country passed laws that save the lives of preborn children and protect the health of women. Arkansas is number one because of the truly impressive example that is being set in Little Rock.

"In 2019, Arkansas passed a whopping 10 pro-life laws and several of these were enjoined. But this summer, after the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in June Medical Services, these laws were allowed to go into effect.

"The right to life demands respect and protection, from the very beginning of life when we can only see the dark of our mother’s womb, till the end of our life when we may rely the most on those around us for care and support, from beginning to end, no matter what. Arkansas understands that reality.

"Congratulations to Arkansas and every state which made a difference this year in the fight for life. We look forward to even more progress in 2021."

Mallory Quigley on Susan B. Anthony List and its impact, the Congressional victories of pro-life women, and a Biden administration by Life, Liberty, and Law • A podcast on Anchor

Among the most important players within the pro-life movement are those advocates on the ground—the leaders in communities across the country working for strong pro-life candidates running for public office. In politics, it’s especially true that passion must be matched with action, and our guest today knows firsthand how important both action and passion are for forging a successful political future.

We’re delighted to speak with Mallory Quigley, Vice President of Communications at Susan B. Anthony List. Mallory breaks down what the 2020 elections mean for pro-lifers and what opportunities we may have in the years to come.

Centers for Disease Control Abortion Surveillance Report Shows Little Change in U.S. Abortion

It should always be borne in mind that the CDC abortion data is incomplete, as a number of states – including some of the most abortion-friendly states such as California and New York – do not report data regularly to the CDC. The CDC surveillance thus ends up being essentially a well-educated guess at abortion incidence – better than nothing, but far short of ideal.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recently released its Abortion Surveillance 2018 report, and the data, while less than fully reliable, suggest that the abortion rate in the country has plateau…

District Judge Doubles Down on Nationwide Injunction of Pro-Life Health & Safety Laws

In response to U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang’s second ruling, reaffirming his earlier 50-state injunction suspending health and safety protections for women seeking chemical abortion pills, Catherine Glenn Foster, President and CEO of Americans United for Life, issued the following statement:

"A single federal judge in Maryland has now doubled down on a sweeping nationwide injunction that gravely undermines the health and safety of all women—but especially endangers low-income women and communities of color, the very people the plaintiffs purport to represent. These communities have suffered immensely during COVID-19. Instead of fighting for the health, safety, and wellbeing of women who make the unfortunate decision to seek a chemical abortion, today’s decision strips basic health and safety protections and leaves women to experience potentially life-threatening complications alone. Activists who support stripping these basic health and safety protections disregard the dangerous history of chemical abortion drugs like mifepristone, which, according to FDA data, has resulted in more than 4,000 adverse events, 1,000 hospitalizations, hundreds of infections, and at least 24 deaths. Abortion businesses want to wipe their hands of responsibility to patients. Today’s decision imposing one man’s views on women across America is another step in that very wrong and dangerous direction."

Lincoln Proposal aims to use executive power to promote pro-life causes

Young voters care about empathy, boldness, and most of all: Honesty. The Lincoln Proposal offers a clear, legally sound, policy option that would have an immediate impact in defending life and advancing pro-life priorities. One of the most frustrating things about politics, and young voters feel this astutely, is the disingenuous nature in which so many politicians will pay lip service to an issue, but then once they are in a position to actually do something, they are silent. We must do better.

The Lincoln Proposal is a project to use presidential executive orders to promote pro-life objectives.

Abortion Apologist Xavier Becerra Selected to be HHS Secretary

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a career apologist for the multi-million dollar abortion industry, should have no role in America’s public health institutions. Joe Biden’s pick for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Becerra has spent his career shilling for the abortion industry’s agenda. In California, Becerra has aggressively prosecuted pro-life citizen journalists like David Daleiden for sharing factual information. Becerra has fought all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to force pro-life pregnancy resource centers to advertise abortion. And in Congress, Becerra voted against the “Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act,” which would prohibit taking a minor across state lines for an abortion without parental knowledge or consent. Becerra signaled support for the barbaric act of partial-birth abortion—in which a child is partially delivered before she is forcibly killed by puncturing the base of the skull—by opposing a common sense ban on the practice. As a reward for his abortion activism, Becerra received a 100% rating from NARAL and Planned Parenthood.

President-elect Biden campaigned on his religious convictions and his commitment to respecting the rights of conscience for all Americans. During his lifetime in the U.S. Senate and his tenure as Vice President, Joe Biden supported popular protections like the Hyde Amendment. After winning millions of moderate votes, why is Joe Biden nominating Xavier Becerra, who has made it clear he is willing to use the power of the state to impose pro-abortion policies on people who vigorously disagree, including pro-life pregnancy centers?

We are in the midst of a profound public health crisis, and Americans must be able to place their trust in our public health institutions. Xavier Becerra is not worthy of that trust, and the nation will suffer deeply if he is elevated to a position of such importance.

Catherine Glenn Foster, President & CEO of Americans United for Life, issued the following statement regarding the announcement that Joe Biden will nominate Xavier Becerra for the position of S…

Alexandra DeSanctis on a Joe Biden and Kamala Harris presidency, the U.S. Supreme Court, and efforts to codify abortion in state law by Life, Liberty, and Law • A podcast on Anchor

In politics, there are no permanent victories. We’ve just lived through what we were told was the most important election of our lifetimes.

We’re told that every four years and with a seeming increasing fury, but the story of American voter turnout does suggest that this election felt different—at 74 million+ votes, President Donald Trump won more voters than any other sitting president and increased his vote totals by more than 11 million from those of his shock 2016 victory. And against all apparent odds, President Joe Biden looks to have secured more than 80 million votes—securing not only the presidency, but crushing President Barack Obama’s previous high-water mark in terms of voter turnout.

Alexandra DeSanctis, Staff Writer at National Review and Visiting Fellow at EPPC, joins Tom Shakely and Noah Brandt to consider the prospect of a Joe Biden and Kamala Harris presidency, but even more importantly, the victories and takeaways from across the states, the state of the states and courts, and one election that is still to come.

Why You Shouldn’t Feel ‘Safe’ Taking the Chemical Abortion Prescription

State contributions to the FAERS database are voluntary so we know there are limitations to the information it provides. Since 2016, prescribers are only required to report deaths associated with mifepristone. According to the most recent mifepristone reporting, there have been at least 24 deaths tied to the drug. The report lists:

· 24 deaths

· 4,195 adverse events

· 1,042 hospitalizations (excluding deaths)

· 599 blood loss requiring transfusions

· 412 infections, and

· 69 severe infections.

These are not numbers; these are real women who died and/or suffered serious medical harms after taking mifepristone. It is worth noting that this reporting only addresses the physical impact and does not measure the emotional, psychological, or spiritual impacts of taking this drug and having a chemical abortion. Even with the limited numbers available, it is obvious that mifepristone is not a harm-free drug as its proponents claim, and deregulation would result in more women being harmed.

Americans United for Life’s series, “(Un)Happy Birthday, Chemical Abortion,” has been taking a close look at the central claims the abortion industry makes for RU-486. Today, we come to a claim tha…

New CDC Data Show Continued Decline in the U.S. Abortion Rate | National Review

"Last week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released new data on the incidence of abortion in the U.S., indicating that although there was a slight uptick in the abortion rate between 2017 and 2018, the long-term decline in the abortion rate has continued. On the whole, the abortion rate in the U.S. has declined fairly steadily since 1980."
