This week, I helped leave a small mark on the America 250 birthday cake…! I had the opportunity to mold an aircraft carrier and a few F/A-18s and sign the ceremonial apron that will accompany the cake when it is presented at the Library of Congress on July 4th. Today, I introduced a resolution to designate June 12th as Women Veterans Appreciation Day. Throughout my career as a Navy helicopter pilot, I had the privilege of serving alongside extraordinary women who answered the call to serve. Across all the branches of service, women have made invaluable contributions to our Armed Forces. Our nation is grateful for their service and sacrifice!

Securing our nation’s borders is one of the federal government’s most fundamental responsibilities—and it should never be a partisan issue. Unfortunately, after years of failed border policies and record levels of illegal border crossings, my colleagues across the aisle continue pushing efforts to defund ICE and CBP. That’s why I proudly voted for the Secure America Act, which provides our frontline border security personnel with the resources, technology, and support they need to carry out their mission and keep our communities safe. While the Left continues to play politics with border security, House Republicans and I delivered the largest investment in immigration enforcement in American history.

The safe recovery of our downed U.S. helicopter crew today is a testament to the strength, dedication, and readiness of the U.S. military. Today’s response to Iran’s attack reinforced a fundamental principle: peace is preserved through strength. When our adversaries know that attacks on American servicemembers and military assets will be met with swift and decisive action, deterrence is strengthened. America’s military remains the most capable fighting force in the world, and we owe our servicemembers unwavering support as they defend our nation, our interests, and our allies. Today’s message was clear: America will not tolerate attacks on its servicemembers, and those who threaten them will be held accountable.

Last week, I joined Rep. Rob Wittman, Congressman John McGuire, Congressman Ben Cline, and Congressman Morgan Griffith in sending a letter to Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to support the Commonwealth of Virginia’s request for USDA Secretarial Disaster Designation following aggressive weather and late-season freeze events that caused significant crop damage across the state. Our farmers work tirelessly to feed our communities, and this aid will ensure they can access the resources and assistance they need to recover and rebuild.
