Today, we celebrated our nation’s 45th anniversary of independence at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Beltsville, Maryland.

We cannot thank the St. John’s church community enough for having us as part of their worship. We were also delighted to have The Reverend Sandra Bramble, fellow Vincentian, deliver the sermon.

Thank you to all the Vincentians and friends of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for celebrating the with us.

We’re celebrating SVG’s Independence all this week!

Today we’re spotlighting the capital city of Kingstown. Here are some interesting facts about the City of Arches.

- Kingstown is located on the southwestern end of the island of Saint Vincent.
- The town overlooks Kingstown Harbor and is sheltered by Berkshire Hill on the north and Cane Garden Point on the south.
- The port has a cruise-ship berth.
- Kingstown’s Botanic Gardens (1765), the oldest in the West Indies, received the first breadfruit trees brought from the Pacific, in 1793 by Captain William Bligh.
- Commonly referred as the City of Arches, the city has preserved much of its French colonial architecture which features several arches.
