The last several times we've tried to get through Navy Yard, the eastern gate has been inexplicably locked. There have been no signs to warn passers through that they will need to retrace their steps. Be forewarned.

Trail designs for Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens to be unveiled
The District will unveil designs for the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens segment of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, at Anacostia Avenue and Benning Road NE.
The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail is a nearly 60-mile network of bicycle and pedestrian trails. A $10 million U.S. Department of Transportation stimulus grant and additional sums of $3.5 million from the District and $1.5 million from Maryland will pay for construction of the four-mile Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens Trail segment between Benning Road in the District and Bladensburg Waterfront Park.

Have you ever wondered why the trail is detoured at RFK with the ridiculous "Walk Your Bike" sign? DCWASA is building a sewage treatment diversion system to comply with Federal clean water regulations instead of dumping it in the river. See document below.
We'd like to know what the timeline for completion is, and in the meantime get a detour that's compliant with trail infrastructure best practices for those who are also keeping the environment clean by using bikes or walking and not driving.http://www.dcwater.com/workzones/projects/pdfs/LTCP-Division-C.pdf

Florida Rock/RiverFront - Near Southeast DC Revitalization
This from ANC Commissioner David Garber please come advocate for the trail:
Hi All,
I've arranged a meeting with my Citizens Development Advisory Committee -- and anyone else who is interested -- and the developers and architects of the RiverFront / Florida Rock PUD project. The meeting will take place at 7:30 next Thursday, June 28, in the Velocity condominium meeting room at 1st and L Streets SE.
Please come with questions / comments / suggestions about the proposed development, which will extend the riverwalk down to the S. Capitol Street Bridge and bring many new retail spaces to the neighborhood. This is an opportunity for us to be creative about what we want to see at our waterfront.
For more info on the project, see JDLand's blog page on it http://www.jdland.com/dc/floridarock.cfm, as well as the latest design presentation by the developers, uploaded here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/93646932/May-2012-Riverfront-on-the-Anacostia-Presentation.
Plans were initially made in 1998 for a large development at this 5.8-acre site on the Anacostia at the foot of the South Capitol Street Bridge. The site is owned FRP Development Corp./Florida Rock Properties, Inc. (FRP), a real estate development company that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Patrio...
