It was a heartfelt honor to attend the Change of Command ceremony for the Miami-Tampa Field Office, a place that holds a special significance for me. Having served as the Director of Field Operations, I oversaw the complex operations across Florida, including the bustling ports and airports that are vital to our nation’s trade and travel.

Today, I extend my warmest congratulations to Daniel Alonso, the new Director of Field Operations. Your leadership comes at a pivotal time, and I am excited to see how you will guide our dedicated team in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations.

Reflecting on my time managing responses to hurricanes and overseeing the largest cruise passenger port in the country, I am reminded of the resilience and commitment of our CBP family. We've overcome challenges and celebrated successes, and I am confident that under your leadership, we will continue to protect our communities and carry out the mission.

It was a rewarding experience touring JFK and witnessing the vital work being done at the Centralized Examination Station. Walking through the facility, I had the opportunity to examine shipments and see firsthand the measures we take to protect American consumers.

One of the highlights was our recent success in seizing counterfeit goods related to the FIFA World Cup 2026™. This underscores our commitment to ensuring that only genuine products enter the marketplace. The new facility significantly reduces the number of cargo facilities around the airport, allowing us to operate more efficiently and effectively.

I want to extend my gratitude to our dedicated staff. Their hard work and commitment to enhancing enforcement and security play a crucial role in our mission at CBP. Together, we are making strides in safeguarding lawful trade and protecting our communities. Thank you for your continued efforts!
