Female entrepreneurs often face more difficulty when it comes to obtaining capital and financing for their businesses.
However, a recent study by ICA and CNote found that women actually carry lower credit risk than men.
The study analyzed historical lending data from six CDFI FUNDS. The data examined the probability of default, likelihood of delinquency, and expected losses.
The results showed women had a lower probability of defaulting and being delinquent on their loans and that women of color were not riskier borrowers than other groups.
Despite this, the study also found that women received lower loan amounts and paid higher interest rates than men.
CDFIs are dedicated to helping low-income communities access financial services and funding. They can be a helpful resource for women and other disadvantaged groups seeking business loans.
Success stories of female entrepreneurs who have received funding through CDFIs illustrate the potential for these resources to help women overcome barriers to financing and growing their businesses.
