The Fellowship Initiative: In Loving Memory of Winston Perez V...
World Learning and The Experiment express our deepest condolences to Winston's family and #TheFellowshipInitiative (TFI) on the loss of their beloved son, brother and friend.
Our hearts are broken over the loss of a young man who was truly an inspiration to every life he touched.
A passage from Winston's college application demonstrates how through thoughtful actions and words he consistently strived to make the world a better place:
“I will pursue greatness, break barriers, and exceed expectations… be an entrepreneur, a pioneer, and deeply understand people like a psychologist. To be the architect that will shape people's environments and influence their workplace, their homes, and the cities in which they live. Most importantly, I will become the best version of myself and change the world.” -Winston Perez Ventura
----------------------------------------------------------
In July 2016, The Experiment in International Living teamed with The Fellowship Initiative (TFI) to bring 120 low-income, promising young men of color from New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles to South Africa for the trip of a lifetime. With funding from JPMorgan Chase & Co., TFI is investing in these young men throughout their high school experiences, in order to help them get into college and capitalize upon their potential. In South Africa, the fellows learned to work together, discovered their personal leadership styles, and found a new appreciation for cultural differences.
