On June 6, 1944, thousands of brave American and Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy and parachuted behind enemy lines, launching the operation that helped liberate Europe from tyranny and secure victory in World War II.

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve of the Greatest Generation.

FDR said “Hitler built a fortress around Europe, but he forgot to put a roof on it.” Previously, on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, I was honored to participate in a parachute jump over Normandy alongside fellow veteran Members of Congress to recognize and commemorate the greatness of our heroes 🇺🇸

June is a time to celebrate the nation we call home and the freedoms that makes America exceptional.

We honor the generations of patriots, service members, first responders, and hardworking Americans who built and defended this great country. From sea to shining sea, we are blessed to live in the land of opportunity, liberty, and self-government.

As hurricane season begins, preparation is key for families across Florida’s 7th District. Now is the time to review your emergency plans, build or restock your supply kits, and stay informed through official weather and emergency management updates.

Every household should have:
• A family communication and evacuation plan
• Emergency supplies to last 3–7 days
• Important documents secured in waterproof containers
• Backup chargers, medications, food, and water ready to go

Residents should also take steps to secure their homes by reinforcing windows and doors, clearing gutters, and reviewing insurance coverage before storms develop.

Early detection of Alzheimer’s and related dementias saves families precious time together. That’s why I’m proud to co-sponsor the ASAP Act, a bipartisan bill expanding Medicare coverage for blood-based and other validated early detection tests.

Today I had a productive meeting with the Mayor of Ponce Inlet, the Mayor Daytona Beach Shores, the Mayor of Winter Springs, and the Mayor of St. Augustine Beach to discuss the needs of Florida’s 7th District.

We focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing our coastal and inland communities and the importance of advancing common-sense, locally driven solutions to better protect homes, infrastructure, and public safety.

I appreciate these local leaders for their commitment to serving their communities and for working collaboratively to address real-world problems affecting families across our district.
