Did you know the Army, Air Force, and Space Force have updated their DoW SkillBridge guidance to implement rank-based participation limits?

SkillBridge can offer valuable civilian training opportunities before transition, but participation timelines are not the same across every Military Service. Service policies may differ based on rank, approval authority, and mission requirements.

In the attached graphic, Services are listed by maximum authorized participation time rather than order of precedence, to help highlight how timelines vary across the force.

That is why early planning matters. Reviewing Service-specific guidance early can help transitioning service members better understand their eligibility window and build a transition timeline that aligns with policy. It also helps employers build training opportunities that best align with Service-specific criteria.
