The WFPG’s in-depth global issues programs feature women leaders and highlight their contributions and voices. The organization also hosts leadership development activities to promote the next generation of women leaders. The WFPG partners with many foreign policy organizations and is a key player in broadening the constituency for international affairs and helping educate Americans. The WFPG brings together participants from across sectors and links them domestically and internationally.

The Women's Foreign Policy Group is thrilled to be collaborating with the Society for International Development (SID-US), the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA), and Young Trade Professionals (YTP) for a special Young Professionals Happy Hour. Join other young professionals for a networking event hosted at Mission Dupont Circle on September 1st, 2026 from 5:30 - 7 PM ET.

Please join the Women's Foreign Policy Group on Wednesday, August 26th, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM, for the next session of our WFPG Book Club! We'll delve into "Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing up Iranian in America" by Firoozeh Dumas.

In 1972, when she was seven, Firoozeh Dumas and her family moved from Iran to Southern California, arriving with no firsthand knowledge of this country beyond her father's glowing memories of his graduate school years here. More family soon followed, and the clan has been here ever since. "Funny in Farsi" chronicles the American journey of Dumas's wonderfully engaging family: her engineer father, a sweetly quixotic dreamer who first sought riches on Bowling for Dollars and in Las Vegas, and later lost his job during the Iranian revolution; her elegant mother, who never fully mastered English (nor cared to); her uncle, who combated the effects of American fast food with an army of miraculous American weight-loss gadgets; and Firoozeh herself, who as a girl changed her name to Julie, and who encountered a second wave of culture shock when she met and married a Frenchman, becoming part of a one-couple melting pot.

Enjoy a relaxed evening alongside WFPG members with guided discussion, meaningful conversation, and light refreshments.

Our discussion explored the current state of U.S. energy independence and resilience, avenues for industry and the U.S. government to strengthen collaboration, and opportunities for international collaboration for national and economic security.

Are you a driven young professional seeking guidance and growth? A seasoned professional interested in investing in the next generation of women leaders? Mentor AND Mentee applications for our 1:1 Mentor Match program are open now!

1:1 Mentor Match is an excellent way for student, young professional, and mid-career WFPG members to build a relationship with mid- or senior-level mentors. Over the next year, mentors and mentees will meet eight to twelve times, either virtually or in person, to discuss career goals, challenges, and steps forward.
