AmeriCorps OIG provides independent oversight of AmeriCorps. Report fraud, waste, or abuse to our hotline: americorpsoig.gov/hotline.

The AmeriCorps Office of Inspector General was created by the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. Our authority is statutory and comes from the Inspector General Act of 1978 as amended, and the Inspector General Reform Act of 2008,which directs Inspectors General to:
1) Conduct and supervise independent and objective audits and investigations relating to agency programs and operation

s.
2) Promote economy, effectiveness and efficiency within the agency.
3) Prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse in agency programs and operations.
4) Review and make recommendations regarding existing and proposed programs and operations.
5) Keep the agency head and the Congress fully and currently informed of problems in agency programs and operations. This communication is produced and published at US taxpayer expense.
