The Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program We are a non-profit organization created to provide pro bono legal representation free of charge before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

The Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program (The Veterans Consortium), is a non-profit organization created to provide every qualifying veteran and family member legal representation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims at no charge. The Veterans Consortium recruits volunteer attorneys to represent appellants before the Court without charge; screens cases so that pro bono representati

on is provided in cases with merit; and offers comprehensive training in the field of veterans law, mentoring, and support to 300 volunteer attorneys across the United States. Since its inception, The Veterans Consortium has assisted over 10,000 veterans or their qualified family members and has trained nearly 3,000 volunteer attorneys. The Veterans Consortium is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit enterprise. It was founded in 1992 by The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, National Veterans Legal Services Program, and Paralyzed Veterans of America, in response to a request by the Court and from a Congressionally-created program administered by the Legal Services Corporation. Welcome back Judy Donegan and Samantha Farish!

The team here at The Veterans Consortium is delighted to welcome back two amazing attorneys!
Most recently, Samantha Farish served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, and Judy was in private practice.

We are thrilled they've rejoined the team with new insights and experiences that will support our mission to get Veterans the benefits they earned, free of charge.

Glad to have you both back!

We’re proud to celebrate our own Dania Lofton, Esq., MPA, whose commitment to serving Veterans was recently highlighted by her alma mater, Ohio Northern University.

Dania works with our Discharge Upgrade Program, sponsored by the DAV Charitable Service Trust, which assists former service members who received an unjust “Other than Honorable” discharge rating due to PTSD, military sexual trauma, traumatic brain injury, or other mental health conditions related to their service. She credits Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law with laying the foundation for the impactful work she does today.

Congratulations, Dania! We are proud to have you on the team.

Last week, our David Isbell Summer interns, Mikalei Miller, Graeme Strickland, and Darren Borowski attended their first oral argument at the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims! Afterwards they got the chance to meet Judge Jaquith, Judge Toth and Judge Laurer, who served on the panel.

Thank you to Judge Jacquith, Judge Toth, Judge Laurer and everyone at the Court for taking the time to share their perspectives on the Court's work and answer any questions the interns may have had.

Opportunities like these help inspire the next generation of attorneys committed to serving veterans.

A big pro bono shout out to the team at Littler Mendelson, who recently hosted our Volunteer Outreach & Education team for one of our Legal Lunch & Learns, inspiring more attorneys to donate their time and expertise to helping our nation's Veterans! Special thank you to Eduardo Reyes Chavez, Esq., Amanda McGinn Esq., and Brandon Mita, Esq., from Littler for being instrumental in making this happen.

Beyond serving our Discharge Upgrade clients, Littler attorneys are now also taking on federal appeals cases and helping Veterans at our legal clinics! We look forward to celebrating all your achievements!

As always, this important work would not be possible without the financial support of our partners at the DAV Charitable Trust, the DC Bar Foundation, and all of our Victory for Veterans partners.
