The Space Window at Washington National Cathedral is out of this world! 🚀🪐
Collections Manager Laura works closely on the Cathedral Collection and shows us that the best way to understand the story of an item is to see it contextualized. This cartoon drawing shows an early draft of the beloved stained glass window.

What Does This Gargoyle Do?
What does this gargoyle do at the Washington National Cathedral?
Today we’re showing you a model of a gargoyle that became the real thing up on the cathedral’s exterior.
Collections Manager Laura works closely on the Cathedral Collection and shows us that the best way to understand the story of an item is to see it contextualized. The pan flute playing gargoyle is a real cutie, so to see the final product on the gorgeous architecture of the cathedral makes us love our little plaster model even more!

From the archives to the streets! It’s the Washington National Cathedral Collection.
We’ve got tons of stuff safely stored in our collections space from our friends at the Cathedral. Today we’re showing you what a set of sketches eventually became with a field trip.
Collections Manager Laura works closely on the Cathedral Collection and shows us that the best way to understand the story of an item is to see it contextualized. The Shadow House sketches show a few variations, so to see the final product is a cool way to appreciate how the gorgeous architecture of the cathedral and its grounds came to be.
The Playhouse Time Lapse
We love EarthCam's time lapse of the stage construction for "The Playhouse". There's also parts off screen that you've gotta come see for yourself, so don't delay in getting down to the National Building Museum this summer!
