https://linktr.ee/GeorgetownMinistryCenter Our center is open from 8:00 a.m. seven days a week. We safely offer coffee, lunch, shower, computer & phone access, and laundry services, toiletries, face masks, hand sanitize. More than anything else, Georgetown Ministry Center is a place for Georgetown’s homeless population to belong, feel safe, and be accepted. Each winter from November through March,

GMC shelters ten homeless men and women in ten of the area’s congregations. Volunteers from each congregation support a GMC staff member and prepare a wholesome dinner and breakfast every night. GMC also expands public understanding of homelessness and mental illness through our website, blog, newsletter, and social media. We also attend speaking engagements and conduct street outreach with other community organizations.

Georgetown Ministry Center is proud to honor Mimsy Lindner at this year’s Spirit of Georgetown. Her decades of service to GMC and the greater Georgetown community exemplify the values of love, stewardship, and community that define Georgetown Ministry Center.

When Mimsy Lindner moved to Washington, DC in 1984, she quickly found a home in Georgetown. Over the past four decades, she and her husband, Rusty, have raised their four children while living in several Georgetown neighborhoods, developing a deep appreciation for the unique character and close-knit community that define the village. Her extensive record of public service reflects a passionate commitment to strengthening the Georgetown community. Since 2023, Mimsy has served as an ANC Commissioner, and previously served as President of Friends of Volta Park from 2006 to 2016. She is a longtime member of Christ Church Georgetown and formerly served on the Board of Little Folks School. These are among numerous other civic and community initiatives that have helped make Georgetown a stronger, more connected neighborhood.

Mimsy’s relationship with Georgetown Ministry Center began in the early 1990s and has remained a constant for more than 35 years. As a founding volunteer of GMC’s original sandwich program, she helped lay the foundation for what has become today’s daily meal program, serving more than 80 guests each day. Mimsy has also volunteered through Christ Church Georgetown at GMC’s Winter Shelter and remains a steadfast behind-the-scenes supporter, regularly donating essential items through GMC’s Amazon Wish List to ensure our Drop-In Center has the supplies guests need every day. She is an advocate for GMC’s services, often stopping to speak with our unhoused neighbors and encouraging them to visit one of GMC’s Drop-In Centers.

Mimsy’s consistent support over the past 35 years has made a lasting impact on both Georgetown Ministry Center and the Georgetown community. We are honored to recognize her as Georgetown Ministry Center’s 2026 Spirit of Georgetown Honoree.

Christmas came a little early at GMC! 🎄☀️

Today our Drop-In Center celebrated Christmas in July with an afternoon of cookie decorating. After an extremely hot first half of the summer, it was refreshing to manifest cooler days ahead.

Today, the GMC community gathered for our annual Memorial Service to remember and celebrate the lives of the guests we have lost over the past year.

Led by Pastor Brett Wilson, staff, volunteers, and guests came together to share reflections, prayers, and fellowship in honor of those who were part of our community.

This service is an important reminder that grief is something we carry together. It creates space to remember, to celebrate, and to reaffirm that every person who walks through GMC’s doors is known, valued, and deeply loved.

The Spirit of Georgetown is back!!

Save the date for the cocktail party that both kicks off the fall social season and raises critical funds for our community’s only entirely privately funded homeless services providor.

Every day, more of our unhoused neighbors turn to GMC for support. Serving more than 1,000 individuals annually and welcoming an average of 80 guests each day across our two Drop-In Centers & street outreach, your generosity ensures GMC can adapt to our city’s evolving needs, filling critical gaps and serving as a safety net when traditional systems fail.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 14, 2026 | 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
HOST: C. Boyden Gray Hall at Christ Church Georgetown
CO-CHAIRS: Charlotte Etheridge, Jackie Malkes, Alicia O’Brien, and Elena Tompkins

This year, GMC is proud to honor Mimsy Lindner, whose extraordinary commitment to our guests and community embodies the heart of GMC’s mission.

Benefit Committee Deadline: Make your gift by August 14 to be recognized on the Benefit Committee insert included with the print invitation.
