https://georgetownministrycenter.salsalabs.org/spiritofgeorgetown2024 We safely offer coffee, lunch, shower, computer & phone access, and laundry services, toiletries, face masks, hand sanitize. More than anything else, Georgetown Ministry Center is a place for Georgetown’s homeless po

pulation to belong, feel safe, and be accepted. Each winter from November through March, GMC shelters ten homeless men and women in ten of the area’s congregations. Volunteers from each congregation support a GMC staff member and prepare a wholesome dinner and breakfast every night. GMC also expands public understanding of homelessness and mental illness through our website, blog, newsletter, and social media. We also attend speaking engagements and conduct street outreach with other community organizations.

On October 8 2024, The Spirit of Georgetown is back in the Georgetown neighborhood & will be hosted by Ezra and Jessica Glass to increase awareness about homelessness in Washington, DC and to build support for Georgetown Ministry Center’s Drop-In Center serving chronically homeless individuals.

Amanda Klingler, Ann Malekzadeh, Alicia O’Brien, & Claire Wilder are co-chairing this year’s event. This event will be the perfect kick off to the fall social season.

The Spirit of Georgetown 2024 will be honoring longtime GMC volunteer, Abbe Lowell, for his direct service to our community’s unhoused population.

A regular volunteer on Wednesday mornings, Abbe is a friendly face our guests can count on seeing. Our volunteers are the backbone of GMC, and Abbe represents the profound impact all volunteers have on our guests’ lives.

DONATE TO GMC TODAY FOR !

Today is the annual Do More 24! Now in its 12th year, the , powered by United Way of the National Capital Area, brings together several nonprofits in our region for one day of giving, awareness-building and celebration. This year, United Way NCA and participating Do More 24 nonprofits are on a mission to uplift our neighbors in need.

So far this year, GMC has seen a large influx of guests, accessing critical services. Through our Drop-In Center, Pop-Up, and Street Outreach, Georgetown Ministry Center empowers our neighbors experiencing homelessness, and your donation will help GMC grow our programming to meet the needs of our growing population of guests. From basic necessities like showers, laundry, & meal services, to longterm psychiatric care & case management, GMC strives to support our guests every step of the way.

Our Story

Georgetown Ministry Center’s drop-in Day Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week, offering a welcoming and supportive environment to men and women experiencing homelessness. We offer sensitive case management, referrals to housing and treatment programs, medical and psychiatric treatment, social, mental, and health related programming, a clothing closet, use of computers, a phone, and our mailing address, coffee, food, laundry services and handicapped-accessible shower and restroom facilities. More than anything else, Georgetown Ministry Center is a place for Georgetown’s homeless population to belong, feel safe and be accepted. Each winter from November through April, GMC operates a Winter Shelter programing, providing food and shelter for ten men and women experiencing homelessness in shelters in ten of our partner congregations located in the Georgetown area. Volunteers from each congregation support a GMC staff member and prepare a wholesome dinner each night. GMC also expands public understanding of homelessness and mental illness through our website, newsletter and social media. We also attend speaking engagements and conduct street outreach with student and local community organizations.
