Georgetown Ministry Center’s drop-in Day Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week, offering a welcoming and supportive environment to men and women experiencing homelessness. We offer sensitive case management, referrals to housing and treatment programs, medical and psychiatric treatment, social, mental, and health related programming, a clothing closet, use of computers, a phone, and our mailing address, coffee, food, laundry services and handicapped-accessible shower and restroom facilities. More than anything else, Georgetown Ministry Center is a place for Georgetown’s homeless population to belong, feel safe and be accepted. Each winter from November through April, GMC operates a Winter Shelter programing, providing food and shelter for ten men and women experiencing homelessness in shelters in ten of our partner congregations located in the Georgetown area. Volunteers from each congregation support a GMC staff member and prepare a wholesome dinner each night. GMC also expands public understanding of homelessness and mental illness through our website, newsletter and social media. We also attend speaking engagements and conduct street outreach with student and local community organizations.
