I rallied for DC statehood the morning of Monday March 22, 2021 at Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. This is personal for me. I’m an identical twin. My twin has 2 Senators and several Representatives from PA in Congress, but I don’t have any Senator or Representative in Congress because I am a DC resident. We both pay taxes, have worked, have community values and are great Americans. We were born in Puerto Rico, another US location that doesn’t have representation in US Congress. Correct this wrong!! DC Statehood NOW!
Neighbors, I have been asked to post this information on Facebook. There is a NW DC company selling custom designed and durable cloth protective face masks, in strict accordance with the CDC guidelines. See: www.cov19protectivemask.com Full Disclosure: I have been helping the company during my free time while working from home but I have not been compensated for my time. A portion of the profits will go to a local hospital. And a number of the face masks will be donated to a local grocery store. Stay Safe! Clarence
All: The process regarding Jack Evans that Ward 2 (DC) residents suffered is unacceptable. Regardless of your opinion of Jack, Ward 2 residents and businesses were never consulted nor asked for their opinion. None of the community organizations, both political and nonpolitical, were asked for their opinion. No hearing for them was held. However, every resident living outside of Ward 2 were represented in the DC Council and were given a voice. Residents in all 7 Wards in DC, through their representatives, voted on Jack Evans’ situation even though they never lived in the Ward, and never knew his contributions to individual Ward 2 residents and the entire Ward 2. This is not democracy. Consequently, Ward 2 residents and businesses do not have representation for six months. Additionally, all the Council members, representing 7 wards, and those at large are asking for contributions for Ward 2 residents and businesses. How dare they!!!
All: I am vehemently opposed to Patrick Kennedy, a candidate for Ward 2 representative. When he first ran as ANC commissioner (my anc2a01), he ran against the incumbent David Lehrman, who had taken him under his wing for a several months, and shown Patrick the ropes and even confided personal info. After David had undergone a temporary medical issue, Patrick told the incumbent David that he was getting old, getting sick and should move over and let him and the younger generation take over. When I confronted Patrick about this, he said that David had misunderstood and misinterpreted him. So in addition, David is old, sick and also doesn’t understand things. I consider this an example of ageism and of mistrust. Susi Baranano Ward 2 Committeewoman DC DSC
DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson would like to invite the Dupont Circle Community to his monthly Meet Up with Mendo. Join him at Teaism Penn Quarter this Saturday from 10am - 11am to discuss anything and everything happening in the District and Ward 2!
Hello neighbors. I'm posting info and a "how to" guide with current pricing for wind/solar plans available for PEPCO customers in DC. I did it in my apt over a year ago. Buildings can switch to 100% wind/solar as well -- My condo building switched and saved 2% on our electricity bill. To looking into your building making the switch, talk to the condo Board.
