WAWA's World

🔥🔥🔥🔥 Humbled and honored..Repost from @nad1880

[IMAGE DESC: Wawa is grinning at the camera.] --- The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is proud to announce Warren “Wawa” Snipe will perform in ASL the National Anthem and America the Beautiful as part of the Super Bowl LV pregame at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, February 7, 2021!

Known affectionately by many as Wawa, he has been a trailblazer as an acclaimed recording artist in the Hip Hop world and developed his own niche: Dip Hop, which he defines as “Hip Hop through deaf eyes.”

Hailing from the DC/MD/VA area, Wawa has been entertaining audiences since 2005 with critical reception and positive reviews. His unique rendering of Dip Hop explores Hip Hop through a mesmerizing blend of audio and imagery, and seeks to put Deaf recording artists on the map in the mainstream public interest. In 2016, Wawa released an album, Deaf: So What?!, which was designed to showcase the appeal of music to all including those who are deaf. In addition, Wawa is a well regarded actor and has had a recurring role in the Black Lightning TV series.

@wawasworld1 joins a prestigious list of talents that have rendered the ASL performance at previous Super Bowls, including: Christine Sun Kim, Aarron Loggins, Alexandria Wailes, Kriston Pumphrey, Marlee Matlin, Treshelle Edmond, Amber Zion, John Maucere, Rachel Mazique, Candice Villesca, and Kinesha Battles.

Hi everyone - it’s almost the start of Gallaudet’s spring semester. Are you interested/willing to spend 20 hours mentoring an undergraduate interpreting student this semester? There’s a small stipend, and a cumbersome process in completing paperwork to get paid. The students will be taking a field experience course during which they will be observing interpreted encounters and analyzing the ethics as well as the role of the interpreter in different settings. We are seeking Deaf mentors from different backgrounds. DM me if you’re interested. I would need your email and if confirmed by the instructor, your mailing address. Thank you for considering. Let me know if you have questions.
Hi everyone. Would you be interested in mentoring an undergraduate student interpreter (a junior)? They will be taking their first field experience course during which they’re required to observe interpreters and then discuss ethics and role of interpreters. I’m looking for Deaf mentors with an interest in working with interpreters. 20 hours spread over 15 weeks. Small stipend. A little too much paperwork to enroll with our Human Resources, but I would really appreciate your support. Let me know if you would be interested? DM me if you have questions.
Happy Holidays to all of you include me -Deaf Federal Powerful in America!
If you are required to conduct USA Hire Assessment as part of your application process for JOA and you would like to request a reasonable accommodation from OPM, which qualified professionals may be appropriate to issue “medical” documentation for the 3 following questions in order to justify your request for an untimed online assessment via USA Hire (OPM): 1. What is the disability to include how it affects your ability to complete the assessments? 2. What accommodation is requested to assist with the assessments? 3. How will the accommodation help you take the assessments? ***NOTE: Schedule A is NOT sufficient to determine RA eligibility for online assessments according to OPM. In other words, medical professionals may be out of question since this RA request focuses on language deprivation and critical thinking which both of these can be time-consuming to conduct the timed online assessment issued by USA Hire (OPM). Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.
