Hey everyone, just wanted to share A Message from MPD Chief Robert Contee:

- We are actively recruiting and seeking qualified District residents, between the ages of 17-24, to serve as MPD Cadets and have vacancies available immediately. The Cadet Corps provides an opportunity for young adults to obtain an education paid for by the Department at the University of the District of Columbia Community College, while also receiving a salary of $34,432, and working as uniformed civilian employees of MPD. This program is an investment in DC youth, so that they can, in time, return the investment to the city and their community as police officers. While the Cadet Corps has changed considerably from my time, I remember my days as a MPD Cadet fondly. It was in this program that I began to learn more about policing. The Cadet Corps opened opportunities for a meaningful career, ultimately serving as your Chief of Police today.

As we look to expand the Cadet Corps further with the Mayor’s 2022 budget, think of people in the community you might invite to apply. Perhaps the youth working at a local business, on your beat, or maybe even a family member of yours. This short video highlights some of the benefits of the program and some of the voices of our cadets.

Interested prospective cadets should be directed to visit https://joinmpd.dc.gov/career-position-2020/cadet to apply today.

The MPD Police Cadet Corps is a specialized program for 17- to 24-year-olds to serve part-time as uniformed civilian employees. As a member of the Cadet Corps, you will be on track to enter MPD’s Police Officer Recruit Program. Serving as a cadet will afford you the opportunity to learn hands-on a...

Some of 6-D vice from the early 90’s. Leon S. Cureton, Peter Newsham, George O’Bryant, and George Dixon
I’d like to share a heartwarming story about a great deed committed by our MPD Sixth District Officers. Today, while on patrol in PSA 603, Field Training Officer Buchanan, along with two officers in training, Officers Lin and Sexton, conducted a business check at the Safeway near Benning Road, NE, when they noticed a resident (and veteran of our armed services) attempting to make a purchase for his Thanksgiving family meal. There was some technical difficulty with the credit card our neighbor was using and the officers stepped in to pay for the groceries with their own money!! It is so important to recognize selfless acts from human being to human being! These officers were truly at the right place at the right time! Their generosity and kindness should serve as a testimony to all of us during this busy season! Thank you MPD 6D for having exceptional officers that care about the people and community they serve! 💙 💙
