Military Family Food Insecurity - Military Family Advisory Network

If you haven’t seen the news in last couple days, there’s been coverage about difficult hunger issues for military families. Some kids are only getting one meal a day. Please check out the organization helping address this problem and contribute if you can. No kid, as we know, should go hungry. But our military people shouldn’t have this worry in the performance of their duties to our nation.

On this Veterans’ Day, I’d like to share a quote from a speech that I gave at Arlington National Cemetery on Nov. 11, 1989.

“The nation owes a great debt to its veterans, whose service to the nation spans every decade, every year, every day of our country's existence. Through untold courage and sacrifice, America’s veterans have secured the liberty which the founding fathers sought to establish,” “in times of darkness and danger as well as in times of peace and prosperity. America's veterans have been there.”

We have 20 million living veterans. I am proud to be one.

Good info sharing.

During the Christmas break, machinist member Tony Daubs received a phone call from his local lodge president Sam Daniel. “I said, ‘You’re bluffing me Sam’ and I hung up the phone,” remembers Daubs and laughs as he tells the story. “I just couldn’t believe it was true.” But, it was! T...
