World Hepatitis Day is on July 28. This day raises awareness of viral hepatitis, a disease that causes a range of health problems, including liver cancer. There are five main strains of the hepatitis virus –A, B, C, D and E. Together, hepatitis B and C are the most common cause of deaths, with 1.3 million lives lost each year. Viral hepatitis continues to claim thousands of lives every day during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more at: http://ow.ly/Xdxi50AHf14
Earth Day: International Atomic Energy Agency & Environmental Protection
The United States has provided over $4 million in voluntary contributions to the International Atomic Energy Agency to develop nuclear techniques that track the movement of “microplastic” contaminants in the ocean and reveal their impact on marine life. U.S. contributions to the IAEA also advance science on ocean acidification. On Earth Day, we applaud the IAEA’s efforts to promote the peaceful uses of nuclear technology in our joint pursuit of environmental protection.

The health of #OurOcean is in danger due to unsustainable fishing, effects of climate change, and massive pollution. These challenges threaten ocean ability to provide food, tourism, and economic opportunities for future generations. It’s up to us to protect #OurOcean.
Ultra-marathon champion Michael Wardian visited the recycled ocean plastic artwork which is on public display in front of the State Department after an early morning run with Ambassador Janice Jacobs to celebrate #WellnessWeek. The take away? We can all protect the #health of our ocean by #recycling and using less #plastic.
