Overcoming significant challenges with grace and determination. Lucana, the youngest of two siblings, is a sophomore at the University of Michigan and a dedicated water polo player. Diagnosed with profound deafness at the age of six, she received a cochlear implant and continues to wear a hearing aid. Despite her challenges, her passion for water polo has helped drive her success both in and out of the pool as she works to achieve her dream of working with a professional sports team.
