This date in 1908 the National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses (NACGN) was founded to promote the standards & welfare of Black nurses, break down racial discrimination & win the integration of Black RNs into the profession. The iLab will be temporarily closed from July 14 to August 7, 2026 at the Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library. The Alternative study space is the Undergraduate Library (UGL) Quiet Room. Target reopening time is before Bison Week (August 10).

The renovation will include:

Updated technology and workstation configurations.

Modern furniture and improved workspace layouts.

Infrastructure enhancements to support future technology needs.

A refreshed look that celebrates the Bison spirit.

Betty Smith Williams's birthday is 06/24/25. She was a Black nurse and administrator.
She earned her bachelor's degree in zoology from Howard University and graduated with a doctorate from Case Western Reserve University's (CWRU) School of Nursing in 1954, becoming the first Black nurse to earn a doctorate.
