Congratulations to our Rising Leaders Program Class of 2021 graduates! It was wonderful connecting with participants and their managers at our hybrid graduation ceremony last week. Thanks to our sponsor A Wider Circle, program partner Careerstone Group, LLC, and scholarship partners LeaderBridge, and the World Bank. LGW’s Rising Leaders Program provides early-career or management professionals the tools they need to succeed as leaders. Through engaging activities and discussion, the five-month program teaches skills essential to professional development and leadership. Participants gain insight and experience they can apply in any professional environment.
The LGW Classes of 1990-1995 recently convened for a special 35th Anniversary Class Reunion. The event at Oxon Hill Manor was a chance to celebrate more than 30 years of friendship, community impact, and regional leadership in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. After the long months of quarantine, it was a return to a community that holds a special place in the hearts of each member. We owe gratitude to these classes for building the enduring culture of inclusion, belonging, and positive community impact at LGW.
The LGW Community Partner of the Year Award presented by the The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation recognizes outstanding leadership by an LGW member in our region’s non-profit sector. This year, we are proud to honor Koube Ngaaje (’20) and the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH) for their extraordinary response in safeguarding survivors of domestic violence and their children, especially with the extra challenges the pandemic imposed. We look forward to the presentation of the award at the LGW Annual Meeting sponsored by Bank of America on Wednesday!
