Monday, September 21 at 3:00 pm: Intervening against racial health disparities related to the pandemic.

One year ago, with the leadership of Dr. Joseph Wright, MD, MPH, FAAP ('06), the board of the American Academy of Pediatrics released a policy statement that identified racism as a “core social determinant of health that is a driver of health inequities.” Never in modern US history has that been more apparent as social conditions and systemic racism cause an elevated risk for COVID-19 diagnoses and deaths in communities of color. Join us for observations and perspectives from Dr. Joseph Wright (’06), Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Capital Region Health for the University of Maryland medical system, to consider strategies for rebuilding a more equitable public health system. #health #publichealth #healthcare #leadership #awareness #racialequity #ourregion REGISTER: bit.ly/DrJosephWright0

Whenever you have some level of success you need to reach back and pull others up. Some people get to a certain point and forget their roots, but Lisa Wise ('20) is a prime example that there are still people in the world who want to make the DMV a better place, one project and one organization at a time,” - Ebony Harris, Principal, Templeton Elementary School
