Your Country's Daddies

Your Country's Daddies The Founding Father's of America and their updates on the Government of The United States.

1823: James Monroe, one of our best and brightest and the current president of the US, created a doctrine that stated that further European efforts to colonize North or South America would be seen as acts of aggression that would be countered with intervention from the US Military. If you're reading this and you're a European monarch, back off or we'll put the nation's military on you. We worked in agreement with Great Britain on this doctrine, just to put in perspective how serious we are. It is our hope that this doctrine will prove to no longer allow the new world to become a battleground for old world power.

Update 1819: Citizens of America, Henry Clay has put together a plan that admits Missouri as a slave state and makes Maine a free state. Slavery will now be prohibited north of the 36° 30° parallel in Louisiana territory.

We are having a panic attack in this year, 1819, but in order to get through this depression we must calm down. Even though the immense amount of debt, bankruptcy, deflation, business failures, and unemployment may seem bad, we will get through this. For my name is James Monroe and I will lead you through these tough times!

Our boy Monroe has been busy with foreign policy. It is about land, land, and more land. He has worked out a boundary with England between the U.S. and Canada from the Great Lakes to the Rocky mountains. This was at the convention of 1818. He also got busy with the Spanish in Florida. Me bought Florida from the Spanish. In the Adams-Onis treaty (1819). #moMonroelessproblems #newgettaway

John Marshall, @judgemarshall, has been at the head of the Supreme Court since 1801. Fortunately he has established the legal authority of the Supreme Court and with several cases, such as Marbury v. Madison, he has helped to enforce positive principles within our judiciary system. Under the leadership of John Marshall the United States is proud to announce the introduction of Judicial Review in our government. This means that laws passed by the Legislative and Executive branches of government must also be seen as lawful by the Chief Justice, and consequently the Judicial Branch of government as a whole.

We have given the three most powerful legislators in our country a new nickname. Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and John Calhoun are now to be referred to, in unity, as the “Great Triumvirate”. Each of these individuals represents a different region of our new nation, and each is crucial because of their legislative power in passing laws which benefit their region. Henry Clay, of Kentucky, represents the issues and interests of the Western coast of the United States. Daniel Webster, of Massachusetts, represents the interests of New England and the North. And finally John Calhoun, of South Carolina, who represents the interests of the South. With their opposition to the policies of President Jackson, @yaboiandrewjackson, they found themselves in an alliance with one another.

Our congress passed the first Tariff today, the year being 1816. Its purpose was to protect the value of U.S. manufactured goods to avoid the purchasing of cheap European labor. The tariff received heavy amounts of support from the Northern states. A tax has been put on imports from England so that there an incentive in buying domestic goods. The tariff has been authorized only for three years, maybe it will help to expand our economy. #money #ballout

The New England Federalist party met today to discuss the concerns about the everlasting war (of 1812). The issues expanded into a critique on the growing power of the federal government. Many went so far as to plea for succession, but only the the radical federalists from New England. The removal of the three-fifths compromise was approached, but slavery remains immune to criticism as an institution. Additionally, new laws were passed such as the prohibiting of any trade embargo lasting longer than 60 days and the requirement of ⅔ congressional majority for declaration of war. Creating the foundations of a Utopia is becoming increasingly difficult. #struggle #wereallyouthere

Our great president, James Madison, has led our people to victory over the British attacks on our land. Praise to Gen. Andrew Jackson for his leadership at the Battle of New Orleans. Also, Shout out to our girl Dolly Madison of saving the portrait of Washington. Even though it wasn't the best fought war, it was ended with the treaty of Ghent. We have proven our selves to the world!!! #Murica4eva 1812-1814

After the collapse of much of our economy due to the embargo (1807) and non-intercourse acts (1809), Macon's Bill #2 has figured out the perfect answer. It states that as long as Britain and France do not continue to kidnap our merchants and ships, we will be allowed to trade with them.
(1810)

10/17/2015

Update: Dam British! Stop bullying us! You’re making us upset! Stop killing our sailors and pretending you are Americans. We hate this! This Cheapeake Affair is horrible. This impressment has to stop! Boarding our ship and taking our goods? Really British? You fools! So immature!

10/17/2015

Jefferson has decided to assemble standing armies to defend ships off our coast. This goes against his traditional government views because this decision has close ties to tyrannical practice, but with desperate times come desperate measures even if this choice may be seen as unconstitutional on paper it is for the good of our country's people.

10/17/2015

Update 1804: Aaron Burr recently challenged Alexander Hamilton to a duel in the forest. Alexander Hamilton shot and miss but the awful Aaron Burr shot Alexander Hamilton, ending his life. Rest in Peace Alexander.

10/17/2015

December 1803: For $15 million our president Thomas Jefferson has just doubled the size of our beautiful country!!! With the purchase of the Louisiana Territory from Napoleon Bonaparte we now span all the way to the beautiful pacific, to New Orleans, and to the Great Lakes. He has sent two explorers, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, to map out the region and report back about the landscape. Good luck boys!!!

10/17/2015

NEW COURT CASE: (Marbury vs Madison) Marbury was a midnight appointment from the Judiciary act of 1801 and this boy tried to sue Madison to get the judge commission granted. John Marshall threw out this case in an attempt to avoid confrontation with Jefferson. Now this states that the fools of the Supreme Court have the power to determine the constitutionality of laws.

10/17/2015

Update: It’s that time again! Presidential Election! Your boy Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr with the Democratic-Republicans going up against that fool John Adams with the Federalists again. NEW EDITION: There will be separate ballots for the President and Vice President.

10/17/2015

The Democratic-Republicans seemed to be upset the Alien and Sedition Acts since they were specifically made to suppress their beliefs. So, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison wrote the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions in response to these corrupt acts. The resolutions stated that sovereignty resided with the states allows the "nullification theory", which is the right of secession.

10/17/2015

Two acts passed by John Adams in 1798: the Alien and Sedition acts
Alien: restrictions on immigrants coming into the country (mainly French)
Sedition: Restrictions on the first amendment of free speech. There will be journalists that will get arrested, be careful what you write.

Quote from John to Abigail, "WCW to my wife Abigail. She has stuck by me since day one while everyone else has left me. Love ya boo!!!"

10/17/2015

Update 1796: New Presidential election. Citizens of America, you have 2 choices for your president, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Vote for your first Federalist, “The Patriot King,” or a Democratic Republican President.

10/17/2015

The government has signed two treaties, one from the pro-British Federalists and the other from the retaliating Dem-Reps:
The one from the Federalists is the Jay Treaty and it has the U.S. pay the British back its pre-war debts, opens up trade between us and the British, and they will leave the forts that they occupy in the frontier.
The one from the Dem-Reps is the Pinckney Treaty and this clarifies the U.S. Florida border and it allows access to the port of New Orleans.
1795

10/17/2015

1793: This seems to be an XYZ Affair with these crazy Frenchmen who think they can come into our great country, send a weird guy named Genet to insult our president and then expect us to help them! With this XYZ Affair we have decided to split our alliance with the French in reaction to their "Reign of Terror" and will not be supported. We believe it will taint the reputation of our country's beliefs by getting involved.

10/17/2015

For years now, the British have stayed in forts and have been supplying Indians with weapons. After many battles with the Indians, General Wayne defeated Northwest Indians at the Battle of Fallen Timbers. The Treaty of Greenville sums up the battles recognizing Indians as foreign, but moving them west, politely of course. (1795)

10/17/2015

Washington 1790: Indians! Move! I’ve set you guys up with some pieces of land called reservations. We need you people to assimilate so we can get rid of you and take your land. Your chiefs are important to us and I hope we can stay friends. It’s not you it’s me.

10/17/2015

Update: There was a clash between protesting whiskey makers in Pennsylvania about the tax on whiskey and a quickly formed army led by your boy Georgie W. The protesters were quickly stopped and everything is okay. 1791

10/17/2015

Mr. Alexander Hamilton has proposed an three part economic plan.
#1: The American Government will now assume all of our debts
#2: We will establish a national bank
#3: Tariffs will be set in place

"Every man who loves peace, every man who loves his country, every man who loves liberty ought to have it ever before his eyes that he may cherish in his heart a due attachment to the Union of America and be able to set a due value on the means of preserving it" -Federalist Papers If you like what you are reading then support the constitution and read more of the Federalist papers. ;)

So peeps, we were in a bit of a pickle, but because we are America we figured it out. We, your founding father's, have decided that we will make three major compromises.

#1: The Great Compromise - This states there will be two houses of congress and the negro will now be looked at as three-fifths of a person, giving more votes to southern states.

#2: The Trade and Commerce Compromise - This states that congress will now have the power to regulate interstate trade and will have no interference with the slave trade for 20 years. Finally, if any runaway slave is caught they will be sent back to their plantation under the Fugitive Slave Law.

#3: The Single/Plural Executive Compromise - There will now be two executives, the President and Vice President. Next, the electoral college will now get the final say on who is elected as president. Finally, executives can serve for only 2 terms (4 years each term) and the president now has the power to veto.
