Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy The Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy (formerly the Industrial College of the Armed Forces) is one of five colleges within the National Defense University.

The Eisenhower School is the premier Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) institution for national security resource management, and serves the nation with one enduring purpose: to educate senior military officers and civilians in the resource component of national security and joint strategy. Providing graduate level education to selected military officers, (both U.S. and international) government civilians, and private industry, the Eisenhower School develops strategic thinkers prepared for leadership and success in developing national security strategy and policy, with a focus on evaluating, marshalling, and managing national resources in support of national security requirements.

Mission: The Eisenhower School prepares its graduates to lead the strategic institutions and activities associated with the integrated development and resource execution of national security and national defense strategies.

Today the National Defense University held its annual Fall Electives Open House. Students were given the opportunity to explore the multitude of offerings that the University has during its Fall semester.

The Open House affords professors the opportunity to showcase their subject matter and provides students additional course information that is useful during the course selection process.

Electives are taught all over campus and provide students the opportunity to get to know and learn from others outside of their specific schools.

The Eisenhower School is proud to welcome the class of 2018!

The Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Dean of Faculty, and Dean of Students all spoke to the class of 2018 today, encouraging them to take full advantage of the #eisenhowerexperience.

Our new class includes 158 U.S. military officers, 38 International Fellows, 59 DoD civilians, 45 non-DoD inter-agency civilians, and 1 industry civilian.

The faculty, staff, and Eisenhower community welcome the class of 2018 and are excited for the upcoming academic year!

Today the Eisenhower School held orientation for the non-DoD members of the class of 2018!

Both the Commandant and Deputy Commandant spoke, emphasizing the critical position that national security is in and the vital role our inter-agency and industry partners will play in the future of the national security enterprise.

The Commandant elaborated, stating that the Eisenhower School incorporates more than a "whole of government" approach, but rather a "whole of nation" one.

The staff, faculty, and Eisenhower School community welcome the non-DoD members of the class of 2018 and look forward to the coming academic year!

Did you know that in 2004 the Eisenhower School (then ICAF) were the victors of Jim Thorpe Day?

Jim Thorpe Day is an annual day of athletic competitions at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania between the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, National War College, U.S. Army War College, Naval War College and the Air War College.

The Eisenhower School offers a diverse and spirited individual and team sports program that provides an excellent opportunity to give physical fitness a high priority, as well as to get to know fellow students at the Eisenhower School outside of the classroom. Athletics are an important part of the #eisenhowerexperience and gives every student the chance to engage as a player, coach, cheerleader, or spectator.

Did you know that 1994 was the first year that graduates of the Eisenhower School were awarded master's degrees? In 1993, Congress passed legislation authorizing the Eisenhower School (then ICAF) to bestow master's degrees in national resource strategy.

Yesterday our faculty and staff arrived in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for the annual off-site excursion. This morning, some of the faculty ventured out onto the historic battlefield to be exposed to in-depth knowledge about the events that occurred there.

The off-site marks just seven working days until the academic year begins! The faculty, staff, and Eisenhower community are so excited to welcome the incoming class of 2018!

Today, Brigadier General Fredenburgh welcomed the Eisenhower School's International Fellow Class of 2018. The Commandant challenged the international students to get involved and make connections with each other and our faculty. Brigadier General Fredenburgh also emphasized the uniqueness of the Eisenhower experience and the comparative advantage our alumni have upon returning to their organizations. He spoke on the particular position that Eisenhower students are in, surrounded by such diversity of experience and wealth of knowledge, both from the faculty and student body.

The Eisenhower School's International Fellows are one of the cornerstones of the #eisenhowerexperience. Representing over 30 countries, these students are rising leaders in their nations' militaries and come to Eisenhower to earn the education and experience to advance to the strategic level. They are vital members of our school and introduce diverse perspectives and varied experiences into our classrooms and seminars.

The Commandant closed his remarks by stating that "we are going to learn as much from [the international fellows] as [they] are going to learn from us". The Eisenhower and NDU communities welcome the international students and their families, and are excited about the progress we will make together over the upcoming academic year.

Today was the first day of orientation for our newest faculty members. They represent a diverse group of interagency and uniformed services personnel, with seven being members of the military and nine coming from agency positions. Brigadier General Fredenburgh emphasized the importance of a joint initiative to ensure the longevity of the national security enterprise and the personal relationships between faculty and students in executing the Eisenhower School’s mission to align our national security strategy with our national resources. The Commandant expressed to the new faculty the criticalness of the directive the Eisenhower School has been given and communicated the commitment to diversity, as evidenced in the Eisenhower School’s faculty and student body.

The National Defense University and Eisenhower School communities welcome the new faculty and look forward to an inspiring and challenging year.
