HUD today released its 2020 Annual Homeless Assessment Report Part 1 to Congress, one of many data sources that are used to estimate the scale and scope of homelessness in the United States. The report found that 580,466 people experienced homelessness in the United States on a single night in 2020, an increase of 12,751 people, or 2.2 percent, from 2019. The information in this report is based on data from January 2020 and thus does not reflect the health or economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
