The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center was delighted to welcome guests to Experience Oman: A Cultural Evening, presented in partnership with ThingsToDoDC.

The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center marked the graduation of its SABLA students, reaffirming its commitment to Arabic language learning, cultural understanding, and meaningful community connections.

The occasion opened with welcoming remarks by Ms. Arwa Sawan, Senior Language Program Officer, and reflections from Arabic language teachers who guided students throughout their journey.

Mr. Abdulrahman Al Rawahi, Representative of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, joined the ceremony and presented Certificates of Completion to graduates alongside Mr. Walid Sellal, Language Program Officer - Librarian.

The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., welcomed a delegation from the U.S. Army War College as part of its strategic education program. The visit included a tour of the Center’s facilities, followed by a meeting with members of the Omani diplomatic mission, featuring a presentation on the Sultanate of Oman, its history, rich cultural heritage, and its role in promoting regional security and international cooperation.

The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center hosted an enriching discussion with Mr. Abdulrahman Al Rawahi, Omani representative at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, for SABLA students and teachers on Omani culture, heritage preservation, traditional arts, Oman Vision 2040, and one of the oldest diplomatic relationships between the United States and the Arab world.

Ms. Arwa Sawan, Senior Language Program Officer, welcomed Mr. Al Rawahi for a conversation spanning Omani heritage, cultural diplomacy, and more than two centuries of friendship between Oman and the United States, followed by a vibrant showcase of Oman's natural beauty and cultural traditions and a Q&A in which Mr. Al Rawahi offered thoughtful perspectives on Oman's heritage and enduring ties with the United States.

The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center hosted a Book Club discussion for participants of SABLA, SQCC's intensive Arabic Language and Cultural Immersion Program, featuring Bitter Orange Tree by Jokha Alharthi.
Moderated by Mr. Walid Sellal, Librarian and Language Program Officer at SQCC, the session offered participants an engaging space for cultural learning, literary discussion, and reflection on the novel's central themes.
SABLA students and educators took part in the discussion, sharing comparative readings from the English and Arabic editions of the book. The exchange brought literary translation, cultural expression, and shared interpretation into rich bilingual conversation.
