Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan

Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan Learn about international exchange opportunities The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan (Global UGRAD-Pakistan) provides fellowships for one semester of full-time, non-degree undergraduate study in the United States to a diverse group of emerging student leaders from underrepresented sectors in Pakistan.

Through their programs of study, exploration of US culture, and integration into U.S. communities, Global UGRAD-Pakistan fellows develop a broad and nuanced understanding of U.S. values and ideals and become citizen ambassadors who support expanded diplomatic and development partnerships. The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX.

The Global UGRAD-Pakistan team joins USEFP and the entire alumni community in offering our deepest condolences to Haresh’s family and and friends.

USEFP announces with deep sorrow the passing of UGRAD alumnus Haresh Kumar. He attended Oklahoma State University in fall 2017 as part of the exchange program.
Last year, through the Community Development Initiative (CDI), Kumar raised awareness about water-saving techniques and the prevention of waterborne diseases among primary school students of Sindh.

“Although I could narrate how I helped establish Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Tharparkar, Sindh, to create better livelihoods opportunities for villagers, or that I was instrumental in organizing Tharparkar’s first and, so far, the only TED event, TEDxIslamkot, but I choose to tell you that I had organized an interfaith dialogue by bringing together people from different faiths, united by a single agenda of peace and harmony, with the support of a small grant under the Global UGRAD-Pakistan program.”

Raj’s Global UGRAD-Pakistan experience at Juniata College in Pennsylvania transformed him into a changemaker! Inspired by his relationships with U.S. mentors and hands-on experience volunteering nearly 300 hours in his host community, Raj realized he had both the ability and the responsibility to make an impact and promote interfaith harmony in Pakistan.
