“I believe it’s high time to educate young girls and make self-defense training as the first line of defense against any kind of abuse. It is time to speak up because this is not just a problem for women, it concerns both you and me”.

Global UGRAD alumna Aiman Khan has taken the initiative to educate young girls of KP about different forms of abuse and how to protect themselves in a difficult situation.
In an awareness session organized by Aiman last month, students of primary and secondary schools participated in self-defense training. We love to see alumni building leadership skills and promoting the value of diversity within a community! Way to go, Aymen! #ExchangeOurWorld

To develop skills and knowledge that can help lead a community where diversity and individual differences are valued, Global UGRAD alumna Aymen Bashir attended Inclusive Leadership Conference at Western Carolina University earlier this year. The conference focused on inclusive leadership and guided attendees through four core competencies: self-consciousness, cultural intelligence, commitment, and cognition.

“During the sessions, I was able to voice my concerns about being a woman and a leader. When you are a woman, your leadership is labeled as bossy, and it can be seen as something negative.” Aymen found it empowering to speak to other emerging women leaders and learn how they address this stigma.
Pictured here is Aymen with one of the other attendees at the conference

Global Exchanges, which has over 2,300 active Facebook followers, has connected cultural exchange ambassadors from over 20 countries through live interview sessions.

Through thoughtful dialogue between cultural exchange program alumni, the initiative breaks down common misconceptions about people from other countries to promote mutual understanding and advance global peace. #ExchangeOurWorld

Happy 70th Anniversary to the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan, our partner for the last 10 years! We are grateful for the work you do to support educational and cultural exchange between Pakistan and the U.S. #ExchangeOurWorld #Partners4Prosperity

Through an agreement signed between the governments of Pakistan and the United States on September 23, 1950, a bi-national commission, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), was formed to promote mutual understanding between the two countries. Since its inception 70 years ago, USEFP has assisted Pakistani students in fulfilling their dreams of studying in the USA and bringing American scholars to Pakistan.

More than 8,000 alumni of USEFP managed programs are working in diverse fields across Pakistan and the world to address global challenges.

Follow #USEFP70 throughout September to learn about our history, participants' transformative journeys, and achievements of our alumni.

When Global UGRAD alumna Arisha arrived at SUNY-Plattsburgh, she discovered an office specifically dedicated to supporting students with disabilities—something that did not exist at her university in Pakistan. The office, along with the Global Education Office, provided the support Arisha needed to fully participate on campus, excel academically, and develop leadership skills for her career.

Hassan, along with his classmates, has created a social enterprise that delivered 17 consultative sessions via Skype, WhatsApp and Zoom. Great job, Maria! #ExchangeOurWorld

Addressing the growing incidences of violence and harassment against young women in Rawalpindi, Global UGRAD alumna Maria Akbar organized an informative training session to demonstrate self-defense techniques with the help of a martial arts expert. Inspired by a session she attended at her host institution, Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, in fall 2018, Maria was encouraged to educate her community women about their rights and laws in place to protect them from harassment. The session held earlier this year was designed using a Training of Trainer model to spread the message in more communities.
