AmeriCorps

A message from our CEO:
Service to others is at the heart of who we are as Americans. A sense of shared responsibility is woven into the fabric of our nation. For decades, our agency has engaged people of all ages and backgrounds in getting things done - improving lives, strengthening communities, and expanding opportunity. Today, service is needed more than ever. To meet current and future challenges, it is essential that more individuals know how they can serve their communities and country. But all too often, the public doesn’t know what national service is, the benefits, or how to get involved. That’s why we are taking steps to increase awareness and ensure more people know about opportunities to serve.

Starting today, our agency will begin operating under the name AmeriCorps. Through our new brand identities as AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Seniors, we will begin to tell a simpler and more unified story of service. We will use a new logo that builds on our proud legacy but points to the future with a simpler and more modern look. And we will be launching a public awareness campaign to engage more Americans in meeting current and future challenges through service. These steps won’t change our mission, programs, or how we operate, but they will provide important benefits now and in the future. When AmeriCorps is much better known, our members and volunteers will feel more connected to a national movement, our grantees will be better able to build local support, more organizations will want to participate, and more people will want to serve. Over time, these efforts will elevate awareness of opportunities to serve and ultimately, make service a cornerstone of our national culture. For years, we’ve been dreaming of a better way to tell the story of national service. Today, we will start to make that dream come true. Thank you for being our partner in strengthening and uniting America through service.

-Barbara Stewart, CEO of AmeriCorps

9/11 Day

We are pleased to announce that 9/11 Day has received an important $513,000 federal grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to support the implementation of significant service and remembrance projects across the nation in observance of the 20th Anniversary (2021) of the 9/11 attacks. We'd like to express our sincere thanks to everyone in the 9/11 community for supporting our organization in this request, as well as Senator Chuck Schumer,Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Senator Roy Blunt. This grant will play an important role as we continue our ongoing mission to "take the day back" from the terrorists and transform the anniversary of 9/11 into a day of doing good in tribute to those lost and injured in the attacks, and in honor of the many rescue and recovery workers, and military personnel who rose in service in response to the attacks. Be assured! We will #NeverForget. READ THE FULL PRESS RELEASE HERE: http://bit.ly/CNCSGrant

This week, CNCS CEO Barbara Stewart, alongside the Serve Illinois Commission, had the pleasure of meeting with AmeriCorps Project YES AmeriCorps members distributing food, masks, and supplies in her hometown of Chicago. We are proud to say more than 1,000 AmeriCorps members are serving in Illinois during this pandemic. They are combating food insecurity, tutoring and mentoring children virtually, supporting medical volunteer recruitment and contact tracing efforts, and more. The AmeriCorps members had an undeniable passion for service. They had signed up to serve in education programs, but have pivoted to address growing food insecurity. Despite the 90 degree heat, they stood in the hot sun, wearing masks, getting essential supplies to neighbors who need them. #AmeriCorpsWorks. #ChicagoProud

Thank you so much to Barbara Stewart, CEO of Corporation for National and Community Service which heads AmeriCorps, and Scott McFarland, Executive Director of Serve Illinois Commission, for visiting AmeriCorps Project YES yesterday! Our AmeriCorps members have been busy over the past three months working in the food pantry, calling our golden agers, tending to our Rowe Garden and more. We are so happy Barbara and Scott got to see some of the work we do at the Settlement.

HACKERS, BEWARE. If they are not hacking then they have been hacked but beware.
Liars they hacked my account and are trying to steal money from my friends.
What I know is this site is sending out messages trying to solicit money from my friends. They are using a fake profile and my picture. Beware
As a former Director of the Valley Partnerships AmeriCorps Program, our goal was to teach kids reading fluency and science to improve their comprehension. 9-11 is a day of service in our cities across the country.

TESTIMONY OF HOW I GOT CURED FROM (HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS) BY THE GREAT HEALER DOCTOR OLUTA Hello everyone I am here to testify of the great work Dr Oluta did in my life with the help of his herbal traditional medicine. I have been suffering from Herpes since 2017 and ever since then I have been looking for solutions on how to cure it. I have been to different hospitals but I discovered none of them was working out for me that I was just wasting money. So I decided to live everything to God, then I was taking my medications to sustain my life and reduce the pains. So on this particular Sunday morning after coming back from service I sat down and begin to ask myself questions, then my phone rang behold it was my sister calling which I answered the call and she started telling me that a friend of hers who has been suffering from same herpes has just been cured by Dr Oluta the herbal medicine man. Then I was overwhelmed, even though I was a little bit confused so she encourage me to also give Dr Oluta a trial and see for myself then I told her to help me get his contact and forward them to me, So immediately she got the contact of Dr Oluta and send them to me, immediately I contacted Dr Oluta and he told me everything I needed to do to enable me get the herbs for my medications and immediately i did that which he instructed me to do without wasting anytime. And here I am today sound and healthy without any symptoms of herpes or any sickness in my body system. And he also told me that there is no sickness on this planet earth that doesn’t have a cure that with the help of herbs he can cure any sickness or disease you can ever think off. So if you are suffering from HERPES or any other sickness or disease and you need a cure you can also contact Dr Oluta with this Email Address at ([email protected]) or add him on whatsapp +2349065326267 so you can also receive your healing and share your testimony
So from my understanding the participants in your program are supposed to live off of 5 dollars a day food stipends. With a 90 dollar a week payment. From my understanding they would have to use a good portion of their pay in order to cover basic needs?
