Hey everybody! DC is in a drought! If you feel hot on our sidewalks, imagine the poor little trees! In August and September it is URGENT for everybody with a hose and access to new little trees to soak them, for 15 MINUTES, just 3x a week! Remove any mulch piles around the base; mulch piles soak up the water and block nourishment to the trees.
DDOT /Milani installed some 50 new street trees in the mile of historic Embassy Row. Then their job ended. Example of drought-striken tree at 2517 Mass is below. Restore Mass Ave is a small, volunteer-run nonprofit whose mission is to restore the historic landscape and tree canopy of Embassy Row, the two miles of Massachusetts Avenue NW from Wisconsin Avenue east to Dupont Circle.
