Acting President of the Republic of Kosova, Albulena Haxhiu, granted citizenship of the Republic of Kosova to Joe DioGuardi and Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi, in recognition of their decades-long advocacy for Kosova and their invaluable contribution to advancing its cause in the United States.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Joe and Shirley for standing with Kosova long before it became a state and for their enduring friendship and unwavering support for our country.

Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Glauk Konjufca attended the Ministerial Meeting on the growing threat of political terrorism in Washington, D.C., hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

As the Minister stated:

The United States of America remains our closest ally and strategic partner. Cooperation with the United States and our partner countries is essential to building a safer environment and safeguarding the values upon which our democracies are founded.

Kosova will continue to contribute to every initiative that strengthens international cooperation and advances peace and security.

A Serbian Government minister has publicly called for the ethnic cleansing of Albanians from Kosova. Such rhetoric glorifies war crimes, threatens regional stability, and is utterly incompatible with European values as well as European future.

Silence is not an option. Nor are weak replies.

The highest levels of EU leadership must respond with clear public condemnation, remind Serbia of its obligations, and ensure that such conduct carries consequences in its accession process.

Kosova remains committed to democracy, a multi-ethnic society, reconciliation based on truth and justice, and European future. Serbia must choose that path too.

The Republic of Kosova is grateful to the United States of America for its continued commitment to seeking justice for the Bytyqi brothers. In October 2019 and again in July 2022, the United States House of Representatives adopted two resolutions calling on Serbia to take concrete action and cooperate with international justice in order to bring those responsible for this crime to justice. This commitment is of great importance not only to the Bytyqi family, but also to the fundamental principle that grave crimes must not go unpunished.

Therefore, tonight, as always, we express our deepest respect to the Bytyqi family, for their resilience, dignity, and unwavering determination in the pursuit of truth and justice.

For the Republic of Kosova, the memory of Yll, Agron, and Mehmet Bytyqi is an integral part of our national and state remembrance.

Therefore, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosova, at this time as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America, and in the spirit of our special friendship as allies and partners, we reaffirm our commitment to continue seeking the truth, accountability, and justice that will bring to account not only those who carried out this heinous crime, but also those who ordered it. Just as we honor with everlasting glory the freedom fighters Yll, Agron, and Mehmet Bytyqi, we will continue to work tirelessly to secure justice for them until it is achieved.

Just as our nation and our Republic must continue to advance, justice for them must also be seen through to the very end.

Glory to the Bytyqi brothers and to all the martyrs and heroes of the Albanian nation!
