“Do you think the UK should stay in the European Community (Common Market)?” 🇪🇺🇬🇧

In addition to the poster competition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Marshall Plan, this month, Harvard University hosted an exhibition displaying 5 posters advocating for the Remain Vote in the 1975 Brexit Referendum.

🗳 In 1975, two years after the UK entered the EEC, the government posed the country's first nationwide referendum on the issue of the UK's ongoing membership in the EEC. Led by Margaret Thatcher, the conservative party argued in favor of staying in the EEC, while the Tory party remained divided on the issue.

🇪🇺Today, exactly 30 years ago, history was made.

In many ways, the 9 November 1989 signified the rise of European Unity and mutual dialogue.
To commemorate this night of hope and renaissance, find below some comments form our members across Europe :

🇬🇧 The Fall of the Berlin wall marks the start of a new beginning for Europe and a chance for Eastern European countries to take part in the reconstruction.
A young generation chose Democracy and Liberty instead of suppression.
Let’s keep fighting for Europe and its values!

@Carl Michel Reischel - president of the European Horizons chapter at Sciences Po Paris

Gabrielle Bernoville - Head of European Horizons Public Relations at the College of Europe Natolin (Warsaw).

Hi friends! Just wanted to give a heads-up about an upcoming EU Delegation visit by our sister chapter at George Washington on Friday, go ahead and sign up below! https://www.facebook.com/events/295846294429115/
Hello everyone, I just wanted to share an event my office is hosting next week that may be of interest! We anticipate it will fill up quickly, so register through the link and feel free to let me know if you end up coming. There should be a lot of big names in the transatlantic community present so it would be great to have a Georgetown delegation in attendance. Let me know if you have any questions! On February 7, the Center on the United States and Europe at Brookings is hosting Former Italian Primer Minister Paolo Gentiloni. In a keynote address, Gentiloni will discuss Italy’s role in an evolving Europe and the trajectory of the trans-Atlantic alliance, drawing from his decades of experience in national and local politics, including terms as Italian minister of foreign affairs and minister of communication.
Congrats on making the list!
Thanks again for all the help at Spring Forum! We were all very grateful for the housing.
