The Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE)'s Urban Sustainability Administration is recruiting for two positions! 1) Associate Director- to help keep our operations and programs moving full (geothermal 😊) steam ahead; and 2) a position on our climate team to staff the Commission on Climate Change and Resiliency, a 16-member independent body charged with assessing the District’s actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

Its ! DOEE had an opportunity to "preach" the benefits of stormwater management at a dedication of our newest RiverSmart Communities project at Mt. Airy Baptist Church!

This project includes a 750 sq ft rain garden, over 500 native plants, a 300-gallon cistern, and two shade trees!
It will clean up over 6,000 gallons of rainwater per day amounting to cleaning over 40 swimming pools of dirty water per year!

Celebrate on Nov 16th by planting a tree in your home or neighborhood. Trees filter pollution in stormwater and help keep our rivers clean! DOEE provides FREE tree residential tree planting through (https://doee.dc.gov/service/riversmart-homes-shade-tree-planting %20to%20get). You can also hit up to plant through (https://caseytrees.org/resources/tree-rebate/) or plant directly through https://caseytrees.org/plant/free-trees/. Let’s achieve DC’s goal of 40% canopy by 2032 by today!

This is an incentivized program through DOEE to provide residents with stormwater management practices like rain barrels, landscaping like gardens and trees, and a rebate for permeable paver installations.

This is available to any and everyone in the DC area that lives in a home or a rental property with four units or less. Residents can recieve discounts on their DC Water Stormwater fee and improve the quality of their property.
