The Alliance of Concerned Men (ACM) is an award-winning nonprofit organization with the goal of saving lives of at-risk youth residing in high crime areas of the Washington DC metropolitan community. Since 1991, ACM has been providing community services to families and children at-risk and in crisis throughout the Washington Metropolitan area. ACM is proud to boast many success stories in its effo

rts to assist youth in crisis. ACM works passionately with District youth who are most at-risk. Building national attention and global membership, ACM is dedicated to its commitment to serve youth and families and help each individual served reach their own personal best.

We meet people where they are at. Year after year, decade after decade we help youth and families, meet their challenges, overcome bad circumstances and learn a better way to handle conflict. We are problem solvers and community champions for the people. We don't give them answers we help them discover it for themselves.

In collaboration with DYRS Department of Youth Rehabilitation OSHA/Carpentry Program we are getting our participants acclimated, completing intakes, pre-tests, and workforce assessments. We are preparing our students for real life experiences and team work. 👏👏🎉

For Cohort #2 of the ACM, HOWL OSHA/Carpentry Program, we spent the first few weeks getting the participants acclimated, completing intakes, pre-tests, and workforce assessments. Since then, they have been learning OSHA and job-site safety, how to read a tape measure, framing basics, drywall, flats, butt joints, and angles. They were introduced to nail gun and power tool safety, marking cuts, using a speed square, and laying out studs 16 inches on center. We are having real conversations about teamwork, discipline, communication, and preparing them to be successful both in life and in the skilled trades.👏🎉

What a celebration completion of the OSHA 30 - 12 week 1st building trades Cohort in May, now the majority of these applicants moved on to paid internship of 7 1/2 weeks 150 hours. When that is completed, we look forward to helping them find full time employment!❤️👏🎉
