Today, the Archer Fellow Alumni Association kicks off its Annual Giving Campaign!

Last year, nearly 100 Archer Fellow alumni contributed an average of $25 during annual giving. This year, we want to double participation.

We are challenging all alumni to #JoinThe200 and help raise $5,000 to support incoming Archer Fellows and members of our alumni community. Your donation helps ensure that current fellows are not financially burdened during their semester and that outstanding alumni are well supported in graduate programs across the country.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, we are reminded of the value of community, fellowship, and giving to others for a better tomorrow. #JoinThe200 so that the Archer Center can continue to develop a community of passionate civic leaders for Texas and the world.

Can we count on you? Click below to #JoinThe200!

Please join us in welcoming Nali Shah to the Archer Center staff as our Austin-based program specialist! In this new role funded by The University of Texas System's transformational investment in the Archer Center, Nali will provide alumni relations, student recruitment, development, and administrative support to our operations.

A Fall 2016 Archer Fellow, Nali interned at the Brookings Institution during her semester in Washington, D.C. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in government and minors in communication and economics.

Since graduating from UT Austin, Nali has worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the external relations office and Moria refugee camp, with the Asia Society Policy Institute, and most recently with the Leadership & Ethics Institute at UT Austin. In each of these roles, she performed public policy, program management, and student development related work. She approaches her career through a lens of public service, entrepreneurship, and community.

A Texas native, Nali’s upbringing in a military family inspired her career in public service. She loves breakfast tacos, traveling, and hot Texas summers.

We are excited to welcome Nali to the Archer Center team!

Fall 2017 Archer Fellow and 2018 Truman Scholar Sanah Jivani shared her story incredible on Good Morning America today. Watch to see how Sanah is inspiring and impacting students around the world. #WhereTexasMeetstheWorld

At 12 years old, Sanah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of alopecia and bought a wig to cover her head. The bullying was endless and she missed 75 percent of the school year. A week before her freshman year, Sanah decided to ditch her wig and created a Day of Self Love at her school, challenging students to let go of the one thing that tied them down. She even started a non-profit organization, The Love Your Natural Self Foundation that provides free self-love and anti-bullying programming in 135 campuses and 28 countries.

After getting sick during a childhood trip to India and witnessing health disparities firsthand, Bharath Ram decided to pursue a career in medicine, hoping to close the gaps in healthcare access by serving rural areas as a physician. Interested in working with refugees and victims of natural disasters in other countries, Bharath will attend Baylor School of Medicine after walking the Commencement stage this weekend. #UTSA #UTSAGrad19
