Each year, federal employees across the United States donate millions of pounds of food to those in need as part of the Feds Feed Families food drive. Through this campaign, employees give in a variety of ways – from bringing in canned goods to “gleaning” leftover produce from local farms to volunteering and more.

This year's food drive runs through Aug. 9, so it's not too late to get involved! We are grateful for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's support and commitment to feeding those in need.

Feds Feed Families Gleaning Video

Federal employees have harvested a lot of produce for food banks during gleaning activities this summer. Gleaning is when you go to a farm and pick excess produce that would go bad or be unused otherwise. It’s a wonderful way to give back through Feds Feed Families. Watch this video to see why.

In the spirit of the holiday season, the Soldier’s of HSC are organizing a food drive to support the San Antonio Food Bank from 06-22 December 2021. 3 Drop Off Locations Available: HSC Headquarters - Located in the basement of Abel Hall 1st Floor, BLDG 4011 2nd Floor, BLDG 4011 If you are not located in or near one of these locations, please contact SSG Laramee (contact info below) to set up a collection point in your area. The San Antonio Food Bank provides food and services to more than 530 partner agencies in 16 counties throughout Southwest Texas. Our service area reaches north to Kerrville, south to LaSalle, west to Uvalde, and east to Seguin. Food drives are critical to the Food Bank's ongoing mission to collect and redistribute millions of pounds of food to individuals and families in Southwest Texas who don’t know where their next meals are coming from. Donations are voluntary and go towards helping a network of 90,000 individuals we serve weekly. The Food Drive will start 06 December and run through 22 December. Though donations are completely voluntary, all HSC Soldiers and Civilians are welcome to participate by providing healthy non-perishable items. This drive is not intended for trainees. Attached you will find a flyer with the 12 most needed items. In addition to food, we will also be accepting baby diapers (any size) and dog food. Thank you in advance for your support in the fight to end hunger in our local community! #PeopleFirst Feds Feed Families
As of September 3, the DoD community has donated more than 3.3 million pounds of food this year to the Feds Feed Families initiative, beating last year’s final tally of 2.9 million. #CharlestonCorps was honored to participate in this campaign and donated over 220 pounds to those who face food insecurity. As we celebrate 150 years of service to South Carolina, our employees generously beat our goal of 150 pounds, one pound for each year.
U.S. EPA Mid-Atlantic Region employees volunteer at Gravity Hill Farm in Titusville, N.J., with Rolling Harvest Food Rescue to glean jalapeno peppers and eggplant for Feds Feed Families. Gleaning is harvesting excess produce directly from a farm and then donating it. It is just one of the many ways to contribute to the Feds Feed Families Campaign, which encourages federal employees to donate to food banks, pantries, and those in need.
We are honored to be hosting Philadelphia-based EPA volunteers helping us to glean peppers and eggplant at Gravity Hill Farm today! Feds Feed Families is a government-wide campaign which encourages federal employees to give to food banks and pantries. 😇🙏🌱🌶🫑

The latest Feds Feed Families food drive theme is Veterans and Hunger. According to USDA research, 1.1 million or 6.7% of all veterans nationwide lived in poverty in 2019. The challenge of hunger is still present, federal employees can help support healthy eating for veterans in need by donating food items to the food bank or food pantry of your choice. Remember to record your donations here: https://fedsfeedfamilies.ocio.usda.gov/pages/recording-and-results
Last year, the U.S. Department of State donated 12,756 pounds of food to food banks across the country via Feds Feeds Families (FFF). Thank you to all who donated! This year, Feds Feed Families has created the opportunity to donate easily by coordinating with your favorite food retailers, such as Walmart, Costco, and Amazon. (To donate via your favorite retailer, enter “ATTN: FEDS FEED FAMILIES/Department of State/Your Bureau” as the shipping address at checkout.) The Department appreciates all donations: let’s help those in need – children, seniors, and families – gain access to healthy food. Find more information and ways to donate in the May 28 ALDAC or June 1 Department Notice. This year’s FFF campaign ends August 31.
Community engagement is everything! Meet our good friends from Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center supporting their Feds Feed Families program. Let’s give this entire group of dedicated employees a great big thank you! #togetherwearefacinghunger #transformation #HumanCare
