As the nation celebrates and honors its founding in 1776, we must remember that this day was never about fireworks or cookouts. It’s about the ideals that the Declaration of Independence represents—250 years later, the American Experiment continues. Many of the employees PASS represents at the Federal Aviation Administration will be on the job. Fireworks will be lighting up the sky “from sea to shining sea” and PASS members will be keeping the National Airspace System safe. Other federal workers will also be on the job serving the American public this holiday and we owe them all a debt of gratitude.

Amid the planes, trains and automobiles this Memorial Day weekend, remember to pause—to reflect and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend this nation. From the country's very founding, through 'a great civil war', through armed conflicts around the world today, America has sent its bravest souls to protect the liberty and ideals we hold sacred. And many never made it home.

PASS is proud to represent hundreds of administrative employees who support the nation’s air traffic control system and the Federal Aviation Administration. Without them the world's largest, safest and most complex aviation system doesn't run smoothly! Thanks to these dedicated federal workers for their service to PASS and to the American flying public.

On a beautiful spring morning in 1995, a domestic terrorist deliberately attacked the federal government and its employees. On the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, PASS remembers the 168 lives lost, including 108 federal employees. Eleven of our colleagues at the U.S. Department of Transportation were killed that day. These dedicated public servants had gone to work at the Murrah Federal Building to do their jobs on behalf of the American public. We honor their memory and service.
