A blessed and Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate.
I proudly work for Ohio's 1st District, chair the House Small Business Committee, and serve on the Foreign Affairs and Judiciary Committees.
Rep. Steve Chabot has proudly served Ohio's 1st Congressional District for 18 years. Chabot is one of Congress' leading advocates for fiscal responsibility, voting consistently to eliminate wasteful spending and reduce the excessive tax burden on hard-working Americans. Nonpartisan taxpayer advocacy groups such as Citizens Against Government Waste, the Concord Coalition and the National Taxpayers Union have time and again rated Chabot as one of the most pro-taxpayer members of Congress.
A blessed and Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate.
Today, I spoke at the House Republicans leadership press conference on behalf of my bill to extend the Paycheck Protection Program.
After visiting 70+ small businesses in Ohio’s First Congressional District, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of the program.
It’s time for Congress to get to work and pass a COVID package that contains strong small business relief measures.

I recently met with members of the AJC - American Jewish Committee Cincinnati Chapter board to discuss disturbing trends regarding antisemitism in the United States. We must work together to counter antisemitism and it’s impact on the Jewish community.
Seventy-nine years ago today, more than 2,400 Americans lost their lives in the attack on Pearl Harbor. As President Roosevelt wisely predicted, December 7, 1941 was a date that “lived in infamy." But December 7th has become more than a day to remember and mourn those who died that day in Hawaii. It has also become a day to honor the spirit and resiliency of the American people who triumphed over tragedy and helped defend freedom across the globe. They were truly the "Greatest Generation," and we owe them more than we can ever possibly repay. #PearlHarbor #GreatestGeneration

I was saddened to learn earlier this week that renowned economics professor and columnist Walter Williams passed away at the age of 84. I was a big fan. This photo was taken about 30 years ago when I had the pleasure of meeting him at a benefit at Ms. Mims’ Marva Collins School in Roselawn.

Yesterday afternoon, I spoke on the House floor in support of my bill to reopen the Paycheck Protection Program. From mom and pop shops to local manufacturers and everything in between, our nation’s small businesses strengthen our communities and our economy.
Sadly, too many of them are still hurting. PPP loans have supported over 50 million jobs so far—that’s 50 million people in Cincinnati and across America who were able to pay their bills and support their families.
Further delay by Congress jeopardizes small businesses and their employees, who cannot wait until the political logjam has cleared. I urge my colleagues, on both sides of the aisle and in both chambers, to come together and pass a common sense relief package.

The Paycheck Protection Program has bipartisan backing, and supported millions of #SmallBiz jobs.
There is over $130 billion in remaining PPP funds.
I have introduced legislation that would reopen the program and ensure aid reaches the small businesses that need it most.
I’ve visited over 70 small businesses in my district, many of whom received help through PPP loans. Unfortunately, many small businesses across our nation and our community are still struggling.
My bill, HR 8265, would reopen the Paycheck Protection Program and send relief to mom and pop shops.

Yesterday, I spoke on the House Floor about the bipartisan legislation that I introduced with Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), a fellow senior Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Our legislation extends the "Tropical Forest and Coral Reef Conservation Act of 2018" through fiscal year 2025. This legislation is a companion to S. 4428, sponsored by Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Senator Tom Udall (D-N.M.). #HFAC

November is Family Literacy Month, so I'd like to highlight a few programs supporting literacy efforts in our community.
Starting with #PampersBrightBeginnings Reading Initiative.
Pampers, a P&G company, is being a #ForceforGood and bringing books and educational resources to local community groups and hospital NICUs across the U.S., including right here in Cincinnati at Christ Hospital.

Happy Veterans Day to all of the men and women who have served, and are serving, in our nation's armed services. We, as a nation, owe you tremendous gratitude for your willingness to serve and protect the ideals we hold so dear.
Since it is Veterans Day, I thought I'd share photos of my two grandfathers, both of whom served during WWI. My dad's dad is seen here (on the left side in the black and white photo) in his air warden uniform during World War II. My mom's dad is the one with the rifle. I also thought I would share a picture of my dad who served in France, England, and Germany during World War II.
God bless each man and woman we honor today, as well as their families and loved ones! And God bless America!
Today at 2:00 pm EST tune into Governor Mike DeWine's #COVID19 press conference. As our numbers continue to rise, remember that we are all #InThisTogetherOhio #MaskUp.
As a small thank you for their continued service to our country, I dropped off lunch from Kelly's Meats & Deli to the Warren County Veterans Services office (VSO). Its dedicated VSO’s provide an array of services to veterans at no cost. You can learn more about their work and hours of operation here: http://www.warrencountyveterans.com/
I had the privilege of delivering lunch from Kelly's Meats & Deli to 11 state troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Thank you Lieutenant O’Bryon, Sergeant Hayes, and your entire team for keeping us safe on and off the road during this difficult time.
I visited Optimized Senior Living, a family-owned, and operated assisted living home for senior citizens. Lindsay McLaughlin, who operates the home, told me about how she transformed her business due to the pandemic and was able to use #PPP funding to save jobs and create new ones. Thank you Lindsay for the productive discussion.
I had the opportunity to meet with Marianne O'Neil and her husband Michael Cook. Marianne is the proud owner of the specialty art and jewelry store, Soul Sidekick Studio, in Lebanon. Michael, founder and President of Anactics Consulting and an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati, received #PPP funding which has helped him with business expenses during the #COVID19 pandemic. Thank you both for your time and feedback.
I had the privilege of delivering meals from Skip's Bagel Deli to the Symmes Township Safety Service Center. The Center is home to both law enforcement and fire personnel who serve the township and local community. Thank you to Lieutenant Mike Tarr and Fire Chief Ott Huber for the update and for all you do to keep us safe.
This week, I met with Skip Thole at his small business, Skip's Bagel Deli, in Symmes Township. Skip and I discussed how #PPP funding helped him retain his employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for your time and assessment of the program.
I recently had the pleasure of donating nonperishable food items such as fruit snacks, cheese crackers, and pretzels to Symmes Elementary School. The hand drawn thank you notes from the kids were a real treat. Thank you Assistant Principal Jessica Ralston for the briefing and to all of the teachers, administrators, and staff of Sycamore Community Schools for all you do to safely educate our students.

Earlier this week, I participated in a House Foreign Affairs Committee Republicans Asia Subcommittee hearing on the ongoing plight of the #Rohingya people. Three years ago, the Rohingya were the targets of genocidal attacks perpetrated by the Burmese military. Today, a million Rohingya remain in refugee camps, with many suffering further atrocities. Since we learned of these crimes, I have been actively involved in passing bipartisan legislation with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Rep. Eliot Engel. These measures express the House’s position that the atrocities were a genocide and that the perpetrators should be accountable through sanctions. Watch my remarks at the hearing below:
