Russia double-taps an ordinary shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih with drones today. Around half an hour after the initial attack caused a fire, Russia struck again – this time targeting the emergency services responding at the scene.

At least five people were killed and 52 others were injured, including six children.

This was a deliberate attack on civilians, followed by another strike as rescuers were responding. Russia must face real consequences for its terror. More pressure on the aggressor, stronger sanctions and accountability are essential for a just and lasting peace.

Today is a Day of Mourning in Kyiv for those killed in Russia’s massive attack on August 20.

At least 16 people have been killed. The Embassy of Ukraine in the USA has lowered the Ukrainian flag to half-mast in their memory.

The attack damaged residential buildings, industrial facilities, warehouses, hospitals, cars, a school, and a shop.

The aggressor state has once again resorted to outright terror, striking civilian infrastructure and peaceful civilians.

Russia must be held accountable for this and all its other crimes against Ukraine.

Eternal memory to those who lost their lives. Our deepest condolences to their families and loved ones.

Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk met with Dave Donaldson, Special Assistant to the President of the United States from the White House Faith Office.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Dave Donaldson and the CityServe Network for their support for Ukraine since the first days of russia’s full-scale aggression. During the war, Ukrainian churches, religious communities, and military chaplains play an important role in supporting service members, veterans, the wounded, families of those killed, and all those affected by the war.

Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that Ukraine protects freedom of conscience even amid war, while russia uses religion as a tool to justify aggression, occupation, and the destruction of Ukrainian shrines and churches.

The parties also discussed the return of Ukrainian children whom russia has abducted or forcibly displaced from the temporarily occupied territories. This must remain one of the key humanitarian demands on the path toward a just and lasting peace.

During Russia’s morning attack on August 20, a drone struck the building of the Kherson Regional Art Museum named after Oleksii Shovkunenko.

The fire completely destroyed furniture and chairs and partially burned the parquet flooring in the corridors. Books in the corridor of one of the museum’s storage facilities were also damaged. No one was injured.

The museum is a cultural heritage site marked with the international Blue Shield emblem and protected under international law. The world cannot turn a blind eye while Russia continues to destroy, burn and attempt to take away Ukraine’s heritage – something the terrorist state has repeatedly sought to erase throughout history.

Russia launched a massive overnight attack across Ukraine, targeting Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as the Odesa and Chernihiv regions.

Kyiv and the region endured nearly nine hours of attacks involving dozens of missiles and 168 drones. At least 15 people were killed. Residential buildings, a school, children’s hospital and kindergarten were damaged. In Boryspil, food warehouses and Red Cross facilities were also hit.

This is why Ukraine urgently needs more air defense and interceptors. Every additional system can mean more lives saved.

103 Ukrainian warriors returned home from Russian captivity.

They are defenders from the Armed Forces, the State Border Guard Service, and the National Guard. Among those released are warriors who defended Ukraine in Mariupol and in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipro, and Sumy sectors.

We remember every Ukrainian still in captivity and remain committed to bringing them home.

Russia struck a civilian bus in Kherson with an FPV drone – as a part of its horrific campaign of terror and “safari” attacks against Ukrainians. Four people were killed and five more injured.

This is the reality of everyday life in Ukraine’s frontline regions.

It is impossible to comprehend the level of impunity and brutality Russia has reached in its attacks against civilians. There should be no hesitation today about stopping Russia through pressure. As long as Russia continues to treat human life with utter disregard, our partners must act more decisively and not waste a single day.

🧩 The series is back with more stories about cultural and historical symbols of Ukraine. Today, we share more about Hryhorii Skovoroda – a philosopher, a poet, and a prominent representative of the Ukrainian Baroque.

In the 1740s, Skovoroda travelled across Europe, visiting Budapest, Vienna, Pressburg (Bratislava), and other cities, engaging with science and culture – experiences that shaped his worldview. The philosopher taught that happiness comes from finding work and a way of life that brings inner fulfilment rather than material wealth.

Hryhorii Skovoroda spent the last year of his life in the village that was later renamed Skovorodynivka, in the Kharkiv region. A museum dedicated to his life and work welcomed visitors there – until 2022, when Russian forces struck the museum, deliberately causing significant damage to Ukraine’s cultural heritage.

Short fact: Before his death, Skovoroda asked that the words "The world tried to catch me, but did not succeed" be written on his grave. They became one of his most famous quotes.

🔍 Follow as we continue exploring the stories behind each puzzle piece and discover the people, places, inventions, artworks, and traditions that have shaped Ukraine through the centuries.
