Immigrant survivors of domestic violence face heightened risks as a result of factors like language, social isolation, lack of information or financial resources, cultural beliefs, or fear of deportation. They often face a number of barriers when seeking safety and justice.
This is why Ayuda works to provide free family law, protection order and crime victims’ rights legal services to low-income, immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
We stand with immigrant survivors, and all survivors, because they deserve the right to access justice, transform their lives, and have a brighter future.

For this month's Think Table, Immigrant Food partnered with Ayuda for #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth.
Domestic violence affects millions of people every year, but Immigrant Food and Ayuda highlighted how immigrants are particularly vulnerable.
For Téa's Coffee segment this month Téa spoke with Staff Attorney, Erica Rudolf, and a domestic violence survivor who shares their story.
Brittania Elias, Domestic Violence/Family Law team paralegal, gives a short and informative DV 101 video to help make sense of what is domestic violence. As we kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) tomorrow, we will be highlighting our programs that specifically address issues of DV, sexual assault and stalking that our immigrant community faces.
In this month's newsletter we had a special message from Ayuda's new Director of Social Services, Diana Ortiz.
You can learn more about Diana, Ayuda's mid-year report, and get a special sneak peak of Ayuda's upcoming event that you won't want to miss.

For this #ThankfulThursday, we want to thank the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, who recently awarded Ayuda a $10,000 Community Investment Fund grant.
This grant will support Ayuda’s Emergency Assistance Fund, which works to reduce risk for homelessness, reduce transportation barriers, and reduce the lack of financial resources for low-income immigrant residents of Northern Virginia who are victims of crime.
This support is crucial in helping to bring stability and to maintain the wellbeing of immigrant survivors of crime who are residents of Northern Virginia.
Thank you!
Today officially makes it the last month to complete the #Census. It's important for you to complete the census and to remind others in your community to complete the census, so our communities are accurately represented and get the resources we need.
Complete the census online, by phone, or mail. Learn more at http://2020census.gov

This is the story of Wilsone, an Ayuda client who came to the United States from Honduras. He traveled alone when he was 11 years old.
Ayuda helped Wilsone obtain Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and work permit. Ayuda gave Wilsone the opportunity to go to college and help transform his life.
"Without Ayuda, I would have never had the opportunity to live out the American dream. Ayuda translated to help in Spanish...if you have the opportunity to help, help." - Wilsone, former Ayuda client.
