Join us -- Students, Staff and Faculty welcome to celebrate Bis*xual and Pans*xual PRIDE!!!!
As we close out Pride Month, we must remember to give thanks to those in the LGBTQIA+ community, especially deaf LGBTQIA+ members, who have come before our time. Those who fought for equality; acceptance; protection; and love, before it was safe to do so. It is because of the activists of Stonewall in 1969, and many more that have come before and after who dared to challenge the status quo. It is because of all of them that our deaf LGBTQIA+ youth of today can live proudly, and be their authentic selves.
#GallaudetU is grateful and proud to have such a diverse community of LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Our differences are what make us stronger collectively. Head to
https://bit.ly/2NLf0ky to view the work of our LGBTQA Resource Center, keep in touch with Rainbow Society of Gallaudet, and follow Deaf Q***r Resource Center for fantastic resources in ASL and English.
Also, if you ever wondered why is the rainbow flag is the symbol of pride? Well, it’s because the colors reflect the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. The original creators of the iconic pride flag had a specific meaning for each color. Violet is for spirit, blue is for harmony, green is for nature, yellow is for sunlight, orange is for healing, and red is for life! #HappyPride. 🏳️🌈

Dear all,
I am an American Studies doctoral candidate at the Freie Universität, Berlin (Germany), writing a dissertation on celebrity feminism in contemporary US-American pop music.
From March 16th to the 20th I will be in Washington DC to interview anyone who wants to discuss pop music celebrities that are labelled as feminist by themselves, their fans, or the media. Examples of such celebrity feminists are Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Katy Perry, Lorde, Selena Gomez, Fergie, Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga. I want to use interviews as the starting point for my research.
If you (or someone you know) have an opinion on these things, I would love to chat with you! You can reach me through Facebook chat or send an email to
[email protected].
Best wishes,
Annelot Prins
