Today, EPA joined USDA to address the serious problem of food waste. Through the #LFLP program, we’re helping communities develop local food systems that increase access to fresh, local food, create new business opportunities, and protect the environment. As this story about Martinsville, VA, shows, it can also mean establishing programs to recover foods that would otherwise be wasted:

In 10 minutes, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler, USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue and FDA Deputy Commissioner Frank Yiannas will host a conversation with state and local partners, as well as private entities and non-governmental organizations, on improved collaboration to reduce food waste. #NoWastedFood

EPA is taking action on reducing childhood lead exposure. Today, we released the Implementation Status Report for EPA Actions under the December 2018 Federal Action Plan to Reduce Childhood Lead Exposures and Associated Health Impacts (Status Report). The Status Report describes EPA activities that are being conducted in support of the Lead Action Plan and outlines EPA’s commitment to work strategically and collaboratively on the President’s Task Force on Environmental Health Risks and Safety Risks to Children to implement the Lead Action Plan. The Lead Action Plan promotes a vision where the United States will become a place where children, especially those in vulnerable communities, live, learn and play protected from lead exposure. EPA plans to periodically post updates and accomplishments on the following site: https://www.epa.gov/leadactionplanimplementation.
