Closed since the November Paris attacks of last year, Le Bataclan will reopen tomorrow with a concert by English rockstar Sting. In a statement, Sting said he hopes to “respect the memory as well as the life affirming spirit of those who fell” in the concert hall last year on November 13th. All proceeds from the concert will go to two charities, “Life For Paris” and “13 Novembre: Fraternité Verité” that provide support to the victims of the attacks.

In 1766, Louis XV gave Bougainville permission to embarked on a voyage around the world, which he completed in 1769, becoming the first Frenchman to circumnavigate the globe. Bougainville saw active service in the French Navy during the American Revolutionary War, playing a crucial part in the Battle of the Chesapeake which led to the defeat of Great Britain

Washington Landscape - Homage to Pierre Boulez
The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, in partnership with the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center and INTERFERENCE ensemble, present Washington Landscape, dedicated to Pierre Boulez, the last performance as a part of the concert series Connected: Music in the Museum.
This ambulatory concert, performed by INTERFERENCE ensemble and featuring Washington composers including Steve Antosca, Fernando Benadon, William Brent, Frederick Weck and Jeffrey Mumford, engages the audience into a singular visual and musical experience.
It will be preceded by Boulez: An Unfinished Legacy, a presentation by Dr. Sean Doyle.
This is a free admission concert open to the public.

Special Event Assistant needed for the organization of the annual Bastille Day event to be held at the Embassy of France on July 15th, 2016:
- the event is an annual fundraiser for a charitable cause (underprivileged members of the francophone community)
- Internship is available from May early until July 20th – location is the Maison Française, at the Embassy of France in DC
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- social media communication and publicity of the event in the local medias (both printed and online)
- process and coordinate the donations from the French Chefs or culinary institutes that will graciously cater the evening and from the donors to the silent auction.
- set-up of the chefs the day of the event and make sure they have everything they need during the evening.
- closing of the auction with the assistance of volunteers the day of the event.
- as we get closer to the date of the event the intern may be asked to perform other duties.
Essential qualities and attributes:
- attention to details and courtesy
- dynamism and positive attitude
- good knowledge of Excel and Power Point
