Latino Student Fund

Latino Student Fund Latino Student Fund is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides educational support services for PreK-12 Hispanic/Latino youth in the DC metro area

The Latino Student Fund was founded in 1994 to address the growing high school dropout rates of Hispanic/Latino students in Washington, DC. Over the past two decades, LSF has supported more than 2,000 children, and has continued to develop new services to meet the evolving educational needs of the Hispanic/Latino community. All LSF services are bilingual, and offered free of charge. Our current pr

ograms include: comprehensive college access and preparation services; weekly one-on-one tutoring and summer camp scholarships for at-risk youth; parent literacy and advocacy services; school fairs, admissions workshops and family consultation; tuition stipends to local independent and parochial schools. Since LSF was founded, 100% of our 12th grade students have graduated from high school, as compared to 85% of Hispanic/Latino students nationally and 55% in the DC Public Schools system. Over 90% of LSF high school graduates have enrolled in institutions of higher education, as compared to less than 50% nationally.

A message from our Program Director, Shaun Taylor; "Throughout November, the Lana Learn DC team conducted several trainings and presentations at Cardozo High School , in conjunction with our partners from the Latino Student Fund . At a session held right after school, students had the opportunity to learn the basics of computer coding from a professional instructor all while enjoying pizza, games, and the ever-popular Krispy Kreme donuts 😉.

The following week, we partnered with the Student Fund and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to recruit students for the Latino Student Fund's Te Guio and Listo programs. The students were great, our partners were great, and both the coding class and the recruitment session were a hit!"

"We are excited to dive into this school year with a fresh perspective and lessons learned from our first year with the 21st Century Community Learning Center OSSE grant. In collaboration with the Latino Student Fund , we have expanded our programming to include Coolidge High School DC . Working with students at both Cardozo High School and Coolidge High School will allow us to grow the program and provide services to a wider range of students. I am thankful for the strong partnership that we have with the Latino Student Fund and excited to grow a community of support for the students and their families at Cardozo and Coolidge."

Mrs. G and I were proud to represent RG in support of the Latino Student Fund. The LSF does a lot to support the academic progress of Hispanic students in the DC area, and they’ve been doing it for over 20 years!

We attended their Annual Gala at the National Cathedral and had a fantastic time contributing to a great cause.
