Entrepreneurship takes courage, tenacity, creativity, and patience. Those are four attributes we often think of when we think of David Ordan. Not only does David oversee the Eisenhower "Ike" Center, he also led the development of Ike’s Gourmet, a highly regarded dog treat company that creates a significant number of skills-building jobs for individuals with disabilities. We have long appreciated David his passion, his wit, and his commitment to the disability community in Milwaukee and across the country. David is making a difference, and we are so glad to have the Ike Center as an ACCSES member! Bravo, David, to you and the entire team at the Ike Center and Ike’s Gourmet!

Another ACCSES member creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Check out the Eisenhower IKE Center and IkesGourmet! Be like David – Join ACCSES today! #TestimonialTuesday

For anyone who thinks their advocacy does not move the needle, let us introduce you to Teresa Parker. We first met Teresa when she attended the ACCSES Summer Conference in 2016, shortly after the WIOA regulations were announced. Teresa, at that time, was Executive Director of MARVA Workshop, Inc. in Russellville, Arkansas and had scheduled meetings with her Senators and Representatives while in D.C. She was kind enough to invite ACCSES to those meetings. Teresa, Karen Kight of Abilities Unlimited in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and ACCSES trekked to the Hill on a hot Wednesday morning, and Teresa and Karen showed us how important it is for constituents to speak up. The respect with which they were treated, the knowledge they brought to meetings, and the generosity they extended to ACCSES will never be forgotten. Most importantly, they were heard! ACCSES’s Arkansas members make a difference! Teresa may have retired, but she is now and always will be an important member of the ACCSES family. Friends for life, indeed! #TestimonialTuesday

On occasion, you meet someone and immediately know it will be an important relationship. JW Gibbs is such a person. We remember the first time we met him, when the Missouri state association held a Hill Day in D.C. several years ago. We were impressed by J’s knowledge and experience and his fierce advocacy in support of individuals with disabilities. Since then, we have admired J’s commitment to increasing employment opportunities and apprenticeships for individuals with significant disabilities. We are happy to have J a part of the ACCSES Apprenticeship Committee, and we are very grateful to him for the time he took to host a highly useful and informative session on developing a registered Apprenticeship program during ACCSES’s recent conference! There are not enough nice things we can say about JW Gibbs. We are just glad to know him! #TestimonialTuesday

If we tried to list all of the nice things we can say about MARC and the MARC member agencies, we would run out of room even in the infinite space of the internet. The MARC agencies in North Carolina are doing the most amazing work to help individuals with disabilities, and each agency is run by individuals who we have the privilege of calling friends. People who attend our regular Zoom calls are accustomed to seeing the MARC organization well represented with Noel, Michael Maybee, Tom O’Brien, Jesse Smathers, and many more. Their ideas for how to increase opportunities and their understanding of the challenges providers and the people they serve face, particularly in the most rural parts of our country, are invaluable. We have learned so much through our relationship with MARC and revel in the time we spend with the MARC members. Thank you, Noel and MARC, for making a difference in N.C. and D.C.! We are proud to stand with you. #TestimonialTuesday

Throughout the pandemic, ACCSES could always count on Brad Newman, Executive Director of YEI!, to make us laugh. His wit, his wisdom, and his uncanny timing is always appreciated. Make no mistake though – as funny as Brad is, he is a person of substance whose loyalty, dedication, creativity, and advocacy makes a difference every day. When the going gets tough, it is Brad Newman you want on your side! Thank you, Brad, for all you do to help Arizonans with disabilities live their best lives! We salute you! #TestimonialTuesday

Amy Fox, Senior Managing Director of Consultative Services for the Center for Independent Futures in Evanston, Illinois, and the force behind My Full Life, is a fantastic new friend we made during COVID and is also one of the first people we got to share a restaurant meal with after COVID restrictions began to lift. What a treat it is to spend time with Amy, whether over Zoom or in person. She is so sharp, so dedicated, and so funny – the trifecta! She certainly has made our lives fuller, and we are looking forward to spending time with her in Tampa in November at the ACCSES Fall Summit, where she will present on My Full Life! Thank you, Amy for your kind words and your passion for increasing opportunities! We are proud to know you. #TestimonialTuesday
