July 28, 2026 – The Atlantis Council today met with H.E. Ambassador Jones of the Embassy of The Bahamas.

The meeting, attended by Jason Marczak, Senior Director and Vice President of AALAC, and Valentina Sader, Director of Programming, provided an opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest and to explore avenues for deeper cooperation between the Council and the Embassy.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnership and advancing shared priorities across the Caribbean region.

The Atlantis Council expresses its sincere gratitude to Ambassador Jones for his warm welcome and continued engagement.

On Wednesday, July 23rd, His Excellency Ambassador Wendall Jones paid a visit to the Embassy of Guyana in Washington, D.C. to sign the Book of Condolences in remembrance of the victims of the MV Barima tragedy.

On behalf of the Government and people of The Bahamas, the Embassy expresses its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Guyana, and to the families of those who lost their lives, those injured, and those still unaccounted for.

The Bahamas stands in solidarity with Guyana during this difficult time.

On Friday, July 17, 2026, Bahamas Christian Council President, Pastors Mario Moxey and Mrs. Erika Moxey, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador Wendall Jones at the Embassy of The Bahamas in Washington, D.C.

The visit included discussions on faith, national development, and the role of the church in the Bahamian community at home and in the diaspora.

Pastors Moxey also attended the 53rd Bahamas Independence Celebration in Washington, D.C.

The Embassy thanks them for their visit and for their continued spiritual leadership and service to the nation.

On 20 July 2026, H.E. Wendall Jones, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States, met with Janan Iranbomy, Harvard-trained diplomatic historian, for an oral history interview to discuss the historical significance of the 53rd Independence Day of The Bahamas, the history of The Bahamas-United States diplomatic relations, and the Ambassador's career as an artist and media entrepreneur. The conversation explored principles for building a more prosperous future for humanity, highlighting the role of art, media, and youth as catalysts for peace and international understanding.

On July 12, 2026, Ambassador Jones traveled to New York as part of the 53rd Anniversary of The Bahamas Independence. Ambassador Jones attended a Church service at the Times Square church, along with the New York Consulate staffers. The service united worshipper from 66 countries and 45 U.S states through its online broadcast.

During the service, Senior Pastor Tim Dilena offered prayers for The Bahamas as the nation celebrated 53 years of independence and remembered those who tragically lost their lives in the plane crash in Andros on Independence Day. Later, after the service, Pastor Dilena held a private reception for the delegation and the diaspora, where Consul General Major presented a donation to Times Square Church and Pastor Dilena’s wife Cindy, was given a floral arrangement on behalf of the Consulate to thank her for the reception and Consul General Major also presented a donation to Times Square Church.

The Embassy extends gratitude to the organizers and all who gathered to mark this important milestone.

On Friday 2nd July 2026, The Embassy of The Bahamas was pleased to welcome Alex MacFarlane the new political and economic chief assigned to The Bahamas, for a courtesy call with the Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States.
They discussed a number of key economic and political issues relevant to The Bahamas and reaffirmed the strong partnership between our two nations.
We look forward to working closely with Alex MacFarlane in his new role.

On 30 June 2026, the Office of Foreign Missions hosted its Diplomacy Factory Speaker Series featuring Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Michael J. Rigas.

Deputy Secretary Rigas shared insights on the U.S. Department of State's “The Year of Reciprocity” initiative, the modernization of diplomatic operations, strengthening international partnerships, and the effective management of resources in support of U.S. foreign policy objectives.

Ashley Munroe-Cargill, Deputy Chief of Mission (Ag.), and Tami Ferguson-Culmer, First Secretary, were pleased to participate in this important dialogue and engage on issues of mutual interest.
