We are thrilled to announce Playtime at the Plaza (The Plaza), our first permanent hub for children and families experiencing housing insecurity in Prince George's County.

For the past five years, we have brought the healing power of play to every emergency shelter in Prince George’s County.

Now, we are deepening our impact by establishing a permanent hub at the Beltway Plaza Mall.

This exciting expansion is the next evolution of Playtime Project’s work: growing our presence in Prince George’s County while continuing our longstanding commitment to children and families experiencing housing insecurity in Washington, DC.

Our age-specific camps allow older youth (10-15) to participate in more learning-based opportunities that emphasize problem solving, leadership, and building optimism for the future. Our DC Junior Campers heard from Dr. Butler from Georgetown University, who shared his journey from growing up in Chicago to becoming a Harvard and Yale graduate. This summer, Playtime is offering Youth AND Junior Summer Camps for our kiddos! Each week of camp is designed for a specific age range, allowing for smaller cohorts and activities aligned with children’s developmental needs. This year’s theme is Exploration, and for younger kids Playtime brought children to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and welcomed Ms. Naoko as an origami teacher.
