For FIFTY FIVE years, we have walked alongside women on their redemptive journeys of homelessness and incarceration. Together, let’s renew our dedication to serving our community with passion, empathy, and purpose, ensuring that the next 55 years are even more impactful than the last.
#CFLSis55
All the steppingstones wind to create a uniquely beautiful and powerfully redemptive story for each women that walks alongside CFLS. They reach the fourth and final milestone: Becoming.
Becoming is built along the way from Believing, Grounding, and Dreaming.
Diane’s story embodies becoming. When she found out she was HIV Positive, she told herself, “I want to live with this disease, not die with it.” She was determined to not only not slide back, but she wanted to create what she didn’t have.
Working along CFLS, she has raised awareness about the disease, created meaningful supports for other women, and became for women who she once needed. When women at CFLS reach this final and lifelong stage of becoming, this is where they build their new lives and actualize their potential.
Diane has done that. Besides finding healing and purpose, she is working with CFLS by telling her story through the Speaker's Bureau and helping women find employment.
Diane says that CFLS provides everything a woman would need to move forward and become her most whole self.
Your gift today will be a part of the powerful community where women are thriving.
This week, we are bringing back J'Mia for a second time to highlight an incredibly important part of her journey: Dreaming.
Once J’Mia became grounded again, she was able to start dreaming!
Her dreams never had to be clouded again with measures that would risk her freedom. She could build on this newly solid ground, the life she wanted for herself and her children.
Sixteen years.
J’Mia has been dreaming and creating this new life along CFLS for sixteen years.
Will you join us?
In the two weeks of December alone, we have raised over $3500 with your support! Will you help us reach $10,000 by the end of the year?
Consider making a gift today that will provide support for women who are making their ground solid and dreaming boldly!
Thank you to everyone for your continued generosity! These past two weeks alone we have raised $3414. Together we can keep changing lives like J'Mia's. Speaking of ...
We'd like to introduce you to J'Mia next. J’Mia’s story shows us the importance of the second CFLS milestone: Grounding.
She was home from jail for four years, struggling to find consistency and stability.
The week before she found CFLS, she had resolved to start selling drugs or prostituting. She wanted more for herself and her family, but she was desperate to provide.
She was about to put her freedom on the line. But just in time, she walked through the doors of CFLS.
Here she found the meaningful support that enabled her to become rooted. She found stability through safe, reliable housing and employment support.
At CFLS, we are providing solid ground for women to begin dreaming boldly!

Believing is the first step on the redemptive journey to Becoming!
When Marlene first met the resident manager through CFLS, they asked her why she thought they could help her here. Marlene confidently answered, “Because you’re giving me a safe haven.” Marlene already knew she had in her what she needed to succeed, but she knew having the security of a safe place to rest every night was going to provide the space to keep believing in herself.
Marlene had plans and desires, she only needed someone to help her implement those plans.
Join CFLS in making beliefs into reality.
