Clarification Concerning the Statement Issued by the Iran Freedom Congress on the Iran–United States War

Regarding the statement issued by the Iran Freedom Congress on the war between Iran and the United States and its consequences, we declare that the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), as it is not a member of the executive bodies of the Congress, was neither involved in the drafting nor in the approval of this statement.

Accordingly, the contents of the aforementioned statement do not represent the official position of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan and bear no relation to the Party. The official positions of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan are communicated and published exclusively through the Party’s official institutions and media channels.

The Islamic Republic has once again turned Kurdistan into a target.

Even while facing intense U.S. military pressure, Tehran has chosen neither restraint nor credible diplomacy, but another deadly attack on the Kurdistan Region. At least nine Peshmerga of Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan were killed and several others wounded in missile strikes on their base in Zirgwez, Sulaimani. The Kurdistan Regional Government has condemned the attacks as unjustified and a blatant violation of sovereignty.

We strongly condemn this brutal aggression and extend our deepest condolences to Komala, the families of the fallen Peshmerga, and all those affected.

When the Iranian regime cannot govern responsibly or negotiate in good faith, it returns to the language it knows best: missiles, repression, and the killing of Kurds. This is not strength—it is the behavior of a regime driven by fear and failure.

The Iraqi federal government and the international community must move beyond statements and impose real political, legal, and security consequences. Tehran must be held accountable for violating Iraqi sovereignty and repeatedly targeting the Kurdish people.

Kurdish lives are not expendable. Kurdistan is not Tehran’s battlefield. Silence today will invite the next attack.

On behalf of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham.

Senator Graham will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to public service, his dedication to the security of the United States and its allies, and his consistent support for those around the world striving for freedom, democracy, and human dignity.

For many Kurds and democratic forces from Iran, Senator Graham was a respected voice who understood the challenges posed by authoritarian regimes and the importance of standing with those who seek liberty, justice, and democratic values. His principled leadership and unwavering commitment to these ideals earned him the respect and gratitude of many.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Senator Graham's family, his loved ones, his friends, his dedicated staff, and all of his colleagues who mourn this profound loss. Please convey our sincere condolences to his family and to everyone in his office who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

They fell on a political and organizational mission for freedom, dignity, and the national rights of the Kurdish people.

The Islamic Republic’s repression is not a sign of strength — it is a sign of fear. The regime knows that organized Kurdish resistance remains one of the strongest forces for democratic change in Iran.

We honor their sacrifice. Their names will remain in the history of Kurdistan’s struggle.
